Why Bragging About Estate Agency Awards Could Backfire—And How to Really Win Big Estate agency awards are a fantastic achievement, right? We have the brilliant ESTAS on Friday, the awesome Property Academy’s EAMasters in early November and superb The Negotiator Awards in late November I am a massive fan of them all. To win one takes huge effort - I know Iam a judge for two of them. So what if you do win, you will want to shout from the roof tops - I agree. Yet how you do it, is vital You see, here’s the catch: You shouting you have won an award could be seen as you showing off & British people don’t like show-offs. Going out and shouting about how you’ve won “this award” or “that accolade” might do more harm than good. In fact, it can put people off. No one likes a bragger, and in an industry built on trust and relationships, that’s the last thing you want. The truth is, winning an award doesn’t automatically mean future clients will flock to your door. They’re more likely to question why you’re talking about it so much. Is it because you want to celebrate your team’s hard work, or are you just after recognition? The fine line between pride and arrogance is thinner than you think. So what is the solution? (Because you should shout about your win - it’s just HOW you shout about it that matters) Here’s a smarter way to approach it: Instead of shouting about the award, thank the people who got you there. First, acknowledge your colleagues—the ones on the front lines, dealing with the tough calls and long hours. They’re the backbone of your success. But more importantly, recognise the clients who put their faith in you—the buyers, sellers, landlords, and tenants who trusted you with their biggest decisions. Without them, there’s no award, no business. Flip the narrative. Make it less about you and more about the community you serve. Show future clients that your agency is more than just another award-winning name—it’s a business built on genuine relationships, hard work, and gratitude. By doing this, you’ll not only celebrate the win with integrity but also gain respect and trust. And that’s how you really win in the long run.
