Meet Michael Choi, senior art director. Mike’s favorite part of his job is working with brands that value helping patients with diseases live their best life possible. Mike, a diplomat’s kid, grew up around the world. His experiences have shown him the complexities of communication and helped him understand the unique ways to view, interpret, and present a message- something he uses in his work every day. Outside of work, Mike spends most of his time with his wife, two kids, and two goldendoodles. His whole family is creative, and they love to explore different creative outlets together, including writing and illustrating children’s books, composing original music, and making family films. Mike is also a working musician and gigs nearly every weekend. Thank you for all you do, Mike! #EmployeeSpotlight #RelevateHealthTeam #HealthcareMarketingExperts #RelevateSpotlight

A message from our Executive Diva, Elijah McKinnon! 🌍 In a world of constant change, OTV | Open Television remains committed to agility, responsiveness, and fostering understanding through storytelling. As we approach our 10th anniversary in 2025, we’re focusing on three key priorities: 1️⃣ Amplifying intersectional stories that drive empathy 2️⃣ Building connected communities where empathy thrives 3️⃣ Providing short-form content that bridges divides To align with this vision, we’re pausing our annual artist development slate, including our fellowship and educational programs, to reflect and understand the needs of the next generation of storytellers. But...don't fret because we've been in the kitchen and our next meal is almost ready to be served! In an industry where scaling often comes at the cost of sustainability and equity, we’re taking the time to slow down, reassess, and build thoughtfully for the future. 🚨 Mark your calendars—something MAJOR is coming in January 2025! 🚨 ⁉️ QUESTION ⁉️ As an OTV App subscriber, would you want the chance to help us move over $250K in grants and resources directly to artists next year? Drop your thoughts below. 👇

Here are my 8 tips for SOLO FILMMAKERS AND CREATORS - Start With the End in Mind Ask yourself: What’s the message or emotion you want to leave the audience with? Knowing the ending helps you shape the story from the start. Every shot should build toward that final feeling. - Use Visual Progression Create scenes that flow together. Plan your shots so they transition naturally, moving the story forward from one moment to the next. - Show, Don’t Tell Let the visuals drive the story. Use actions, expressions, and movements to communicate emotions or events instead of relying on dialogue or text. - Use Sound as a Storytelling Tool Layer ambient sounds, music, and dialogue. Sound adds depth to your visuals. Use it to set the mood, highlight key moments, or create tension. - Don’t Overcomplicate the Plot Create simple stories. Focus on a clear idea or goal. A simple story told well is more powerful than a complex one that’s confusing. - Use Color Grading to Match the Mood Color evokes emotion. Warm tones feel uplifting or positive, while cool or desaturated tones represent sadness, struggle, or isolation. - Introduce Moments of Pause Give the audience time to breathe. Slow down the pacing with still or silent moments to create contrast and give viewers time to reflect. - Repeat Visuals, Actions, or Sounds Reinforce themes or emotions. Repetition helps highlight key ideas and makes your story feel intentional and impactful. #filmmaking #tips #light #davinci #grading

Happy holidays, filmmakers and storytellers! 🎄🎥 As we wrap up another year of creating remarkable stories, I can't help but reflect on the wild ride it's been. From AI revolutionizing our workflows to landing interviews with legends like Ronaldinho, we've pushed boundaries and grown in ways we never imagined. But here's the thing... The real magic isn't in the tech or the big names. It's in the moments of connection. The stories that touch hearts. The experiences we craft that linger long after the credits roll. So as you're gathered with loved ones this season, remember: You're not just a filmmaker. You're a creator of memories, a weaver of emotions, a storyteller who can change the world one frame at a time. And that's something truly worth celebrating. 🥂 As we look to the new year, I challenge you: How will you push your storytelling to new heights? What remarkable experiences will you create? How will you use your craft to make a difference? The world is waiting for your stories. Wishing you all a holiday season filled with inspiration, creativity, and of course, unforgettable stories. Now go hug your loved ones and recharge those creative batteries. We've got work to do. 🔥

Really enjoyed Rodd Chant ®©'s live event today. Was great to spend time with other creatives & chat through what it takes to make a living through our ideas & imagination. Some highlights: - 20 ideas a day to stay sharp. As creatives, we’re paid to think, not just write/record/produce. - Stay inspired, our jobs reply on it! - Don’t know how to do something? Just jump in & wing it. Comfort zones are the #1 threat to creatives. - Side projects help you stand out. They’re not frivolous, they're fun! - Find other creatives to jam ideas with - chefs, street artists, painters, carpenters etc. The weirder the better. - 90% of success is just showing up.

Founder & Executive Director, Cameras For Girls. Keynote Speaker. Published Author. Ethical Photographer/Storyteller Consultant. 2023 Vital Voices Fellow, 2024 Vital Voices Leadership Fellow. 📸
Today, I was honoured to lead a presentation for Vital Voices on the vital importance of #EthicalPhotography & #InformedConsent in #storytelling. In a world where images wield immense power, it's imperative that we use our cameras responsibly, especially when capturing the narratives of marginalized communities. Our lively discussion reminded me of the complexities and nuances involved in this practice. I shared some of my own experiences and learned so much from the participants' real-life struggles. By prioritizing respect, dignity, and agency, it's clear that we can ensure that our storytelling efforts truly empower the voices of those we seek to represent. I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this conversation and to play a role in defining the practice of #ethicalphotography and #informedconsent more precisely. Let's continue to elevate these critical discussions and strive for authenticity, empathy, and inclusivity in all that we do. ✨ You can find the recording at https://bit.ly/3QrcC3o #EthicalPhotography #InformedConsent #Storytelling #Empowerment
