Beware of Misleading Promises by Big Brands Like Croma!
Recently, I faced a frustrating experience with Croma at Saket's Select City Walk. I purchased a smartwatch from them, and within the warranty period, it developed issues with charging and starting. Thinking it was a straightforward matter of warranty, I took it to their customer service desk, only to be told that since my warranty was expiring in 8 days, they couldn’t provide a full replacement. Instead, they offered only a 60% cashback on the value of the watch.
Is this what customers sign up for when they buy a product with a warranty? Nowhere was this condition mentioned at the time of purchase! After a long discussion, they finally agreed to replace the item but without an extended warranty, and they didn’t even have the same product available. They promised to inform me once it was located at any other Croma store.
This experience has left me feeling misled and disappointed by a brand I trusted. Such responses raise the question: Are big brands truly committed to customer satisfaction, or is it all just marketing?
If you’ve faced similar experiences, let’s talk about it. Customers deserve better transparency and accountability from brands they rely on!

For anyone who has visited BKC’s plush Jio Mall when it newly opened it made one feel we were in some super elite world where most of the brands were either unheard of or a cursory window check makes your realise that each item here is maybe the CTC of a manager of a good company per say !!
It made we wonder who are these people and what makes them want to buy this (Rhetoric question when you see and read about the luxury market in India)

In Q2 FY25, Reliance Retail's digital and new commerce businesses contributed 17% to total revenues, reflecting the company's strong omnichannel approach.
Despite a 3.5% YoY dip in operating revenue to INR 66,502 Cr, net profit grew 4.6% YoY to INR 2,836 Cr. This sequential increase from INR 2,746 Cr in Q1 FY25 underscores the resilience of its retail arm.
JioMart Digital is ramping up its quick commerce pilot, with non-grocery AOV doubling YoY, driven by rising electronics sales.
Additionally, AJIO added 18 Lakh new customers in Q2 FY25, while JioMart's seller base grew 46% YoY, with a 13% increase in option count.
On the media front, JioCinema doubled its paid subscriber base to over 1.6 Cr, mitigating the drop in movie segment earnings at Viacom18.
Jio Platforms posted a 23.4% YoY net profit rise to INR 6,539 Cr, further strengthening the digital ecosystem.
At the group level, RIL saw a marginal 0.2% YoY revenue rise to INR 2.35 Lakh Cr, though net profit dipped 3.6% to INR 19,101 Cr.

With a low payback period of just 1.5 years, Zudio has been expanding rapidly, adding 203 stores last year and totaling 552 stores in India – more than McDonald's outlets (512). 🤯
The parent company, Trent, has experienced a massive stock jump, increasing by 5 times in just 2 years since Zudio's launch. 📈

The brand has become known for its dupes of trending clothes from multinational brands like Zara and Mango, making fashion accessible to a broader audience. The affordability and variety make it difficult for Gen Z shoppers to leave the store empty-handed. Zudio provides a wide range of products, from lip glosses and claw clips to wet wipes and fancy dresses, making it a one-stop solution for all fashion enthusiasts.
By competing with multinational brands in terms of fast fashion and affordable pricing, Zudio has established itself as a brand that everyone knows about, irrespective of whether they have visited the store. The excitement around Zudio is palpable. For instance, a personal memory of visiting Udaipur includes eagerly awaiting a visit to the Zudio store and the thrill when a store opened in my vicinity.
Effective Expansion Strategy- Zudio's expansion strategy of starting in tier 2 and tier 3 cities and then moving to tier 1 cities has been particularly effective. Yesterday, I spent some time at the Reliance Smart Bazaar store in Mumbai, seeing the assertive Indian shopper in action. With an array of products and consumer diversity, the retail space turned into a microcosm of India, seamlessly integrating local & traditional products with global & future-forward innovations. From large packs of Surf excel liquid to millets and more, the shopper carts were full; the energy was palpable, and the experience? A complete ‘paisa vasool’.
I salute all our frontline heroes, whether in new-age modern marts or convenient traditional stores, for working hard to make experiential retail memorable for our consumers.
