BLS data reports that In 2022 there were 395 fatal falls from elevation in the construction industry, accounting for over a third of all 1069 total deaths. This week is the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls In Construction, a reminder that the time it takes to get your crew together for proper safety training is not just worth it, it’s priceless, and should be a year-round practice. Proper and appropriate fall protection gear must be provided and workers must be properly trained on how to use it. Further measures must be taken to ensure worker fatigue, dehydration, or lowered mental awareness do not hinder motor skills to prevent slips, trips, and falls. Type 2 helmets must also be worn where falls from height are possible and all the best practices must be propagated and made practical throughout the worksite so workers know them and avoid cutting corners for the sake of time, comfort, or oversight. Gravity doesn’t care whether you’re tied off or not, or what hard hat you’re wearing, or that you didn’t have enough electrolytes that morning, or that you tied off at the foot level instead of overhead and swung into a beam. Every fall is preventable. 🚧It's Safety Topic Tuesday! 🚧 Attention to all our crews in construction and beyond... because this one really is for everyone! Did you know that, according to USBL, in 2021, nearly 1 in 5 workplace deaths occurred in the construction industry. Just over one-third of construction deaths were due to falls, slips, and trips. Of these, almost all were from falls to a lower level. The construction industry accounted for 46.2 percent of all fatal falls, slips, and trips in 2021. Stay safe by using proper fall protection equipment, keeping work areas clean, and communicating hazards to your team. Let's work together to prevent accidents and ensure a secure work environment for all. #BuiltOnService #PravaConstruction #SafetyIsCulture #SafetyFirst #ConstructionSafety #SafetyTopicTuesday https://lnkd.in/gygq2jBA.

Did you know? In 2022, construction workers accounted for 49% of fatal slips, trips, and falls, highlighting the need for action. Lack of planning and fall protection contribute to this significantly. In fact, CPWR found that workers without planning were 71% less likely to use fall protection. Let's change that! Safety Stand-Downs are crucial! They're a great way to address hazards, boost awareness, and promote proper training, all leading to reduced falls. Join us during National Safety Stand-Down Week to prioritize safety, protect our workers and help prevent falls! 🚧 Accident on Construction Site! 🚧 An alarming incident occurred recently where small parts of a structure fell from a height while workers were walking and working underneath. 😨 Fortunately, no one was injured, but this could have resulted in serious injuries or even fatalities. 🔍 What went wrong? #Inadequate Securing of Components: The smaller parts of the structure were not properly secured, leading to their unexpected fall. #Lack of Protective Measures: No protective measures, like safety nets or barriers, were in place to catch falling debris. #Insufficient Safety Checks: Regular safety inspections were either overlooked or not thorough enough to identify loose components. 🚨 Preventive Measures: #Ensure all structural components are securely fastened and regularly inspected. #Implement safety nets or barriers to catch any falling debris. #Conduct comprehensive safety checks before any work begins. We must prioritize safety to ensure every worker goes home safely! 🦺👷♂️ #ConstructionSafety #WorkplaceSafety #SafetyFirst #AccidentPrevention #HealthAndSafety #SafetyCulture

Safety First: Protecting Construction Workforce. Falls are a leading cause of injuries and fatalities in the construction industry. Working at heights without proper safety measures like harnesses and fall protection systems puts workers at extreme risk. These are not replaceable materials; they are human lives. This video is from an apartment being built behind my house. We urge all construction companies to prioritize worker safety by: Mandating the use of harnesses and fall protection systems for any worker working at heights. Providing proper training on fall prevention and safe use of fall protection equipment. Conducting regular inspections of safety equipment to ensure its functionality. Workers deserve to return home safely to their families every day. #ConstructionSafety #FallPrevention #WorkersSafety

Falls from heights are one of the most common causes of fatalities and critical injuries in construction. A significant fall hazard is an unprotected edge—also called the leading edge. IHSA offers many resources to help employers assess fall hazards on the worksite, choose the best method of fall protection for the job, and keep workers safe. Visit our website to download two free health and safety advisories and an article from IHSA Health and Safety Magazine about safely completing work on a leading edge: 🔶 Self-retracting devices with leading edge capabilities (W255): https://ow.ly/wCfq50SMAPU 🔶 Self-retracting lifelines for leading edge work (W252): https://ow.ly/V5C150SMAPQ 🔶 “Take extra precautions with lanyards, self-retracting devices, and lifelines near a leading edge” (Vol. 16, Issue 2): https://ow.ly/PB2J50SMAPP

🚧 In construction, even the smallest oversight can lead to significant safety risks. Just as drivers have blind spots that can cause accidents, construction sites have their own hidden dangers. These safety blind spots can easily be overlooked, but addressing them is crucial for maintaining a safe work environment. Over the next several weeks we will highlight some of the most critical safety issues in construction. Here is the first safety "blind spot" in commercial construction that every professional should be aware of:🚧 1. Uneven Surfaces and Tripping Hazards Unmarked changes in floor levels, scattered tools, and construction materials can create trip hazards. Ensure all pathways are clear and well-marked to prevent falls. At CCE Specialties, we understand that maintaining a clean and organized work environment is crucial for safety. Regular inspections and proper marking of hazardous areas can prevent accidents and keep our team safe. Join us each Monday for a new safety tip👷♂️ #ConstructionSafety #WorkplaceSafety #StayAlertStaySafe #CommercialConstruction #ccespecialties
