This also brings the integrated solutions approach including digital solutions for the local market. New coalition eFREIGHT 2030 has launched to support the UK Government's aim of ending the sale of new non-zero emissions HGVS by 2040. It is backed by funding from Innovate UK and the DfT and chaired by former Business Secretary Sir Vince Cable. There are an initial 13 members including M&S, Kuehne & Nagel and Wincanton, who will trial a variety of initiatives such as new vehicles, charging technologies and digital platforms with the aim of sharing best-practice and identifying ongoing challenges across the industry. 📣 A world first: Transdev, Tallano Technologies and IVECO BUS present a solution for recovering fine particles generated by bus braking systems. 📊 Studies and tests of this anti-pollution device are underway, with a view to real-life testing in the fall of 2024. The system works in 4 stages: ▪ Suction: thanks to a groove created in the brake pad ▪ Retention: over 70% of fine and ultra-fine particles are captured ▪ Particle filtration ▪ Recycling of collected particles ✅ European legislation provides a framework for environmental standards for combustion engine emissions. Between now and 2030, it will be supplemented by a section on "non-exhaust" particulate emissions, i.e. those coming from braking systems in particular. 🚚 Slovakian tech firm MIP unveils first hydrogen-powered truck 🇸🇰 MIP has reached a significant milestone in sustainable transportation with the development of Slovakia's first hydrogen-powered truck 💡. Built on the Ford F-Max platform, this innovative vehicle marks a collaboration between MIP and Ford Trucks 🤝. The truck boasts impressive specs: ✅ 117 kW REFIRE fuel cell ✅ Dana Sumo motor - first heavy-duty vehicle in Europe to use it ✅ Four hydrogen tanks providing a range of up to 750 km Having passed EU homologation tests, the truck is now being tested by Metrans 🕹️, a subsidiary of HHLA, for potential use in climate-neutral container transportation 🌍. This aligns with Metrans' and HHLA's sustainability goals, as they aim to decarbonize logistics chains ♻️.
