Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) is a carbon negative energy solution, capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere while producing renewable energy. This makes it the only carbon removal technology that produces carbon negative energy. #carboncapture #carbonstorage #bioenergy To fight #climatechange the world needs to reduce its GreenHouse Gas emissions. There are sectors where this is much harder to achieve, such as aviation or heavy industry. To compensate for those sectors, a report from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change stated that the deployment of carbon dioxide removals is unavoidable. #carbonremovals #BECCS delivers high-quality carbon removals at a reasonable price while also supporting energy security, but the current market needs to be reformed for its carbon removals to be appropriately valued. For this, the EU should set up a proper framework for BECCS that is reflected in the Carbon Removals Certification Framework (CRCF) and in the Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA). 🚗 In a groundbreaking move, California is steering towards a greener future with its latest legislative proposal. The bill mandates that at least 60% of hydrogen used in vehicles must be produced through environmentally friendly methods by 2045. 💧 🌿 Green hydrogen, produced via water electrolysis using renewable energy sources, stands at the forefront of this initiative. Unlike conventional methods relying on fossil fuels, green hydrogen emits little to no greenhouse gases during production. 🌎 🔋 This legislation not only propels California towards its climate goals but also positions the state as a leader in the global transition to a hydrogen economy. 🌐 🌱 The implications extend beyond environmental benefits. By setting clear demand for green hydrogen, California catalyzes investments in renewable energy infrastructure and hydrogen production technologies, spurring innovation and creating jobs. 💡 Let’s drive change together! 🚀 #GreenHydrogen #SustainableEnergy #CaliforniaLegislation #HydrogenEconomy #CleanTransportation #ClimateAction #HDEX https://lnkd.in/esD6MpCR

Not all hydrogen is created equal. The first step to truly clean hydrogen in the EU is a strong definition based on science. This will help to regulate it well from the beginning so it can become a meaningful tool for climate action.
The EU will have to adopt a robust definition for low-carbon #hydrogen, if we want to reduce emissions + boost energy security. Industry, NGOs & think tanks are urging EU policymakers in an open letter to Maroš Šefčovič and Kadri Simson 👇 Renewable Hydrogen Coalition, Transport & Environment (T&E), Green Hydrogen Organisation - GH2, Bellona Europa, Danish Shipping, EnergyTag, E3G, ECOS, Germanwatch e.V. https://lnkd.in/dGnA7Tv7

If we can get this right, this could be a model that could be replicated throughout Australia and around the world. That's Lawford Benning talking, from MG Corporation. Lawford is talking about MG Corp's involvement in the Aboriginal Clean Energy Partnership, which also includes Kimberley Land Council, Balanggarra Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC and Pollination, with each party holding a 25% stake. The Partnership aims to develop large-scale renewable hydrogen and green ammonia production in East Kimberley, Western Australia, reports Pamela Machado. Pamela writes, 'green hydrogen projects do not present quite the same problems for Indigenous communities as coal mines or oil fields, but they do make demands on critical resources such as land and water — and will do so increasingly as the sector scales up. 'That creates a strong case for early engagement with Indigenous communities, to secure support, identify issues for resolution and, in some cases, bring them on board as investment partners.' Yes! Early engagement, transparent information, obtaining consent, then co-design, collaboration, inclusion and participation, equity and ownership or co-ownership, all need to be on the table to fast-track Australia's energy transition. #firstnations #aboriginal #torresstraitislander #indigenous #energy #cleanenergy #greenhydrogen #amonia #hydrogen #partnership #sustainability #investing #finance #fpic #consent #equity #criticalminerals #water #mining #renewableenergy Argus Media

What if we could trap CO2 before it hits the atmosphere - and even make something useful from it? With the UK Government's historic pledge of nearly £22 billion for carbon capture projects, this vision is closer than ever. 🌍 Our latest trial in Germany is testing this potential. At our Bergkamen biomass plant, a mobile carbon capture unit is hard at work capturing emissions directly from power generation. The result? Potentially preventing 200,000 tonnes of CO2 annually from entering the atmosphere. 🌬️🌱 This is more than just a local effort. What we learn here could drive the rollout of carbon capture across the UK, supporting net-zero goals, cleaner air, and sustainable energy for future generations. ♻ Let’s make new energy work for everyone and create a cleaner future together! Have you ever heard of a process that removes CO₂ and generates energy?🛠️ Let’s talk about BECCS: It stands for Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage.💡 BECCS works by capturing and storing CO₂ emissions from biomass processes, essentially turning a harmful byproduct into a valuable asset. 🌿 Not only does this process remove CO₂ from the atmosphere, but it also generates energy, making it a win-win for sustainability and innovation.💨 On the path to a greener future, BECCS plays a key role in sectors such as heavy industry, aviation and trucking, providing a pathway to decarbonization by 2050.🏭 However, while the potential is promising, we still have ground to cover in terms of infrastructure development and deployment. 📈 #BECCS #CleanEnergy #ClimateAction #ClimateTech

We're gearing up for our next Australia-EU Green Hydrogen Dialogue, taking place on Thursday, which will explore issues around social license, community acceptance, and environmental impacts. We will be discussing pathways for ensuring regional communities, First Nations people and traditional owners of land and waters have a role and share in the benefits of large scale hydrogen and renewable projects, how to engender community confidence in the safety and sustainability of hydrogen operations and hydrogen derivatives, the role of the state in facilitating collaboration and engagement across multiple levels of government, private actors and local and regional communities among other topics. Looking forward to a robust discussion with representatives from ACCIONA AU & NZ, ACEN, Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC), Australian Local Government Association, Australian Academy of Technological Sciences & Engineering, Beyond Zero Emissions, Clean Energy Finance Corporation, Curtin University, Orica, Queensland Farmers' Federation, RE-Alliance, RAPAD - Remote Area Planning and Development Board, RES, Hunter Water, University of Newcastle, The University of Queensland, Senatorin für Wirtschaft, Häfen und Transformation, Iberdrola, University of Bremen and more. This activity is part of the European Union Climate Dialogues (EUCDs) project and is funded by the EU. More information about this project: https://lnkd.in/g8GU4e2m Project partners: Climate-KIC Australia, NSW Decarbonisation Innovation Hub, ARC Training Centre for The Global Hydrogen Economy, UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures.

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞: 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐊𝐞𝐲 It is certainly singular that a large part of Western and Eastern society has experienced in the last two years a sudden rise in inflation and there has been great concern about the development and control of the rise in prices. A sudden but not unexpected increase in fossil fuels, in the face of a delay in renewable energy.
