🌊 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: 𝗣𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 🌊 We’re proud to showcase one of our most specialized projects designed for the challenging demands of offshore pipelaying. Here’s how Renold Chain Europe is supporting critical infrastructure beneath the ocean floor: 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ✔️ 160mm pitch special conveyor chain ✔️ Carrier plates welded to inner and outer links every pitch ✔️ Outboard bearing rollers on both sides, every pitch ✔️ Protective coatings to withstand harsh saltwater environments ✔️ 12.5m of assembled chain per tensioner ✔️ 8 tensioners per vessel ✔️ Built in our Bredbury, UK, facilities 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 These robust chains are installed on the tensioners of pipelaying vessels, playing a dual role: 1️⃣ Pipe deployment: Guiding and laying pipes securely onto the ocean floor. 2️⃣ Pipe retention: Acting as a break mechanism by applying force on the chain tensioners, ensuring the pipe doesn’t feed back onto the ship. Designed to perform under immense forces in extreme conditions, this project highlights Renold's commitment to delivering reliable, high-performance solutions for demanding applications. 🚢 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Whether it’s on land or at sea, Renold chains are built to deliver precision, durability, and reliability. #IndustrialChains #PipelayingSolutions #OffshoreEngineering #PrecisionEngineering #IndustrialInnovation #OceanInfrastructure

🛩 It's time for another edition of #TravelTuesday with Oilfield Technology! 🌊 This week we are heading to the North Sea, and all the way back to our November/December 2022 issue, where Jean-François RIBET, 3X ENGINEERING, recounted the repair of subsea caissons at a North Sea platform, using composite wrapping. 💬 "Offshore platforms and their associated subsea pipeline networks have to function in harsh environments. On ageing North Sea platforms, corrosion, structural problems, leaks in seawater caissons and risers, dents, and mechanical damage to pipes and flowlines are all issues faced by operators. These can all hamper the functioning of the platform and production and, at worst, lead to the shutdown of a platform – an unacceptable outcome. However, it is not easy to solve these problems with traditional solutions, which usually require considerable logistics that can impede operations. A composite wrapping solution appears to be a new and efficient way to help platforms to repair these defects, removing the threat of a shutdown, while also being cost-efficient." 🌊 Which Type of Offshore Cable Storage Systems 🌐 As we explore the domain of cable storage, it becomes evident that the choice of the storage system is not one-size-fits-all. 🚢 Two Main Categories: Seaborne vs. Static Offshore cable storage systems fall into two primary categories: those designed for shipping and those intended to remain stationary. The distinction is crucial, and here's why: Seaborne Solution Systems are designed for transportation and are required to withstand dynamic forces during shipment from point A to B. Engineering of the cable baskets shall endure the challenges of transportation that are paramount for their effectiveness in various locations. Static Solution Systems are typically utilized when it has been decided that the cable basket will remain in one location for the entirety of its design life. This means that the basket can be designed to account only for static forces, whether the cable is spooled or unspooled using a rotating or non-rotating means. Understanding the degrees of these two categories is essential for making informed decisions in offshore cable storage design which can ultimately impact initial investment and duration of activities during installation or repairs on critical path. A "transition" that actually works...and is easy! Want to stop the time spent ROV scrubbing, (and scratching), and/or acid soaking subsea well interfaces to complete or intervene on a well? Easily transition to the DEFENDER subsea isolation cap and STASIS non-water based biofriendly subsea preservation fluids. Field proven to prevent calcareous scale deposits, corrosion, marine fouling and hydrate blockages. Hydrate blockages occur in deepwater below the subsea tree cap from migrating methane mixing with trapped seawater. The DEFENDER is an ROV friendly multi-patented thick walled thermoplastic isolation cap that actually seals on the interface and rigidly locks in place. Its design permits the ROV to hot stab in displace seawater from subsea wellheads, tubing spools and trees. STASIS subsea preservation fluids take the place of the swept seawater providing a long term benign environment for subsea components and unlike water-based fluids do not readily go into solution. They work! PROJECT COMPLETED: Piles successfully cut for our valued client, offshore Kirkwall. CUT utilised our 74” diamond wire cutting machine, electric HPU, umbilical spooler, generator and subsea camera system to cut 42” diameter steel piles, 1” wall thickness, concrete filled. Challenges with very poor visibility, high volumes of seaweed, strong tides and high water speeds were overcome. Slack tide windows were used, although this provided a limited amount of time to complete operations (deploy, complete cut, and retrieve machine). CUT met all these challenges. The track record achieved by CUT is a consequence of many factors. For this project, it included the thorough Clash Check performed by our Engineering Team, detailed kick off meeting, comprehensive supply of all equipment required, terrific communications between all parties and the experience and knowledge of our Operators to work through challenges. The cuts were completed with an average of 90 mins each, safely, efficiently, and quicker than expected. The combination of the CUT machine, unique diamond wire that can cut through ANY material, and knowledge of the entire CUT team ensured a successful outcome. #decommissioning #renewableenergy #oilandgasindustry #oilandgas
