Was reading an article from CBC this morning on condominium living and the draconian actions of a board. Check it out. Do you feel that way? https://lnkd.in/dw9P9Ays Living in a condominium has its challenges but it shouldn't result in people feeling like they are living in an institution. These are our homes after all not prison. Are there going to be disagreements? Different perspectives? Absolutely. Are there going to be things people do that disturb others? Inevitably. Think of any family or community. There are going to be squabbles. This is normal. Occasionally there will be serious issues that require the courts but more often the situation just requires a meaningful intervention. There are effective tools and strategies available to alleviate behaviour not in keeping with expected norms. Residents and boards need to work together in an atmosphere of cooperation to create a community that respects one another. We can help. Check us out at https://lnkd.in/eU6i7jAu

The Property Council of Australia has launched a ground-breaking new resource with Edge Impact, the ‘Pathway to Respecting Human Rights and Addressing Modern Slavery Risks’. This project, released on International Day for the Remembrance of Victims of Slavery, is an outcome from the Property Council’s ‘#HumanRights and #ModernSlavery Working Group’, which has been meeting for over five years to consider how #property and #construction organisations can together tackle #modernslavery. The pathway is designed to give property and construction businesses and their suppliers practical and actionable steps for respecting human rights and tackling modern slavery, no matter the size of business or level of experience. Across ten steps, the Pathway sets out guidance, examples, case studies and actions, with links to 58 free online resources that organisations can use to ensure continuous improvement. Francesca Muskovic, Property Council National Policy Director, said the risks of human rights abuses in property and construction are high, but the property industry is coming together and collaborating to tackle modern slavery. “Together, we can make our industry one that respects human rights and works to eliminate modern slavery.” Robin Mellon, CEO of Better Sydney, as Project Manager for the Working Group, said , “A comment we hear often from property and construction suppliers is ‘Show us what you want us to do around modern slavery – clearly and simply – and we’ll see what changes we can make’, and now this resources gives suppliers a pathway towards continuous improvement.” Download the #Pathway at https://lnkd.in/gnvYgi6q Image: Alex Shute, featuring Nick Dexter, Monica McSheffrey, Robin Mellon & Francesca Muskovic
