With my friend Cristhian Peña Jaimes, we have always wanted to develop something to benefit our community. With this goal in mind, we have been thinking on a major problem that occurs on our daily basis. Parking has always been an issue because it is hard to find an ideal spot. There are lots of complaints you can have with a parking lot like high fees, small spaces, low availability, etc. Isn’t it annoying when your only available parking option is a private lot with high and unfair fares? We want to hear from your experience! -What is the main problem you encounter when looking for a parking spot? (e.g., high fees, long distance from your destination, small spots, low availability). -What conditions make a parking spot ideal for you? -Have you ever decided not to use your car due to areas with highly contested parking spots? -What solutions have you used when visiting areas with highly contested parking? cc buildspace, Farza Majeed #buildspace #alterok #s5 #nightsandweekends #advice

🚗 Driving Community Outcomes Through Smarter Parking Strategies! 🚗 At CrossleyTP, we know parking management isn’t just about cars—it’s about people and place. In our latest in-house training session we delved into parking strategies and how they support community outcomes and placemaking. 🔑 Key Policy Levers: From dynamic pricing to permit schemes like residential, tradie, and the Mobility Parking Scheme (MPS), we explored how different policy levers influence parking supply, demand, and user behaviour—ultimately helping to create liveable communities and strengthening local economies. 📊 Measuring the effectiveness of parking: Our team learnt how to measure success using metrics like parking volume, turnover, and load. These metrics help ensure that parking solutions are efficient and responsive to each community’s unique needs. 📍 This session wasn’t just about technical skills—it was also about seeing how parking integrates into placemaking. By aligning strategies with community values, we help create vibrant, people-centred places that: ♿ Improve access for all, including families and people with disabilities. 🚗 Reduce congestion, enhance walkability, and make public spaces more attractive. 🚌 Support sustainable transport by integrating parking with active transport and public transit. At CrossleyTP, we’re committed to guiding communities with tailored strategies that foster thriving places. 🌿🚶♀️🚗 #CrossleyTP #Placemaking #CommunityOutcomes #ParkingManagement #UrbanMobility #SustainableCities #TransportPlanning #CrossleyTP #GuidingCommunities

Had the privilege of being interviewed by CTV News to share my thoughts on the bike lanes in Etobicoke. These are my personal views on how the changes are affecting the local community and businesses: "While bike lanes are a great concept in many cities and the more densified areas of Toronto, I don't think they have had the intended effect here in Etobicoke. The bike lanes are lightly used, and the disruption to commercial zones has been significant. My clients are seeing less traffic in their stores and restaurants, and business has certainly been impacted. Traffic flow has also slowed, and when you put a dollar value on that delay, the impact is staggering. Unfortunately, I don't think the city used a data-driven approach when installing these bike lanes, and they certainly did not engage the residents and commercial tenants to get their opinions." What do you think? Let me know your thoughts in the comments! Contact us at: https://lnkd.in/gsW7XuMn --- #etobicoke #bikelane #commercialrealestate #CommunityImpact #cityplanning #k2commercialgroup

In this clip from public question time, Peter Razos, candidate for Lennox Ward, correctly describes problems with on-street parking in Yarra - people can't find a vacant parking bay, either near their home, or near the business they are visiting. This is a real problem, as many people do need to drive and park. Unfortunately, his focus (bike lanes & trees reducing the amount of on-street parking) isn't the problem or the solution. Yarra doesn't have anywhere near enough space to offer everyone a free on-street parking bay near their destination. Demand for parking is much higher that supply, and the problem is getting worse as our population (both of residents and workers) increases. The solution is to (1) enable many people to walk, bike or use public transport, by allocating space and budget to footpaths, crossings, trees, and bike lanes; and (2) to use demand responsive parking charges, built around digital permits that are linked to a vehicle's number plate. These solutions are described in more detail at: https://lnkd.in/gfX5vpXb https://lnkd.in/gX9BAkF

#Lime bikes "parked" in Hackney Wick, East #London, yesterday evening. There were about 50 of them dumped in this little stretch of footpath/pavement 😕 Despite Hackney's rules saying that these electric bikes have to be parked in designated bays, they often appear in big piles near hotspots of hospitality, shopping etc. They obstruct footpaths for buggies and wheelchairs, and are sometimes left lying in the middle of the road ⛔ Bike sharing schemes like Lime are an example of innovation that has huge potential benefits to health, traffic, sustainability, but also the potential to create a big mess and public nuisance 😤. To avoid the latter, the rules need to be enforced, which means #regulation of the providers (e.g., Lime) as well as possible penalties for users. On the other hand, forcing people to limit their journeys to a limited set of end points increases the barrier to adoption, potentially eroding the benefits. So there is a fine balance to ensure the technology is used responsibly without unnecessarily stifling further innovation and competition in this space ⚖ Can anyone think of another technology this might apply to? 🤖 #airegulation

You’ve heard of Off-Street Parking, but have you ever considered On-Street Parking? Let’s take a closer look! 🚗 On-street parking is the most common type of parking and is typically found in urban areas. The vehicles are parked on the sides of public roads also the streets are being used and in areas where there are build-up residential areas. This is the method of parking in areas where the population is highly dense and the area to park the vehicles is limited. On-street parking areas are particularly built in areas around the public road and the area is physically maintained by Painting the area, Signage Installations etc. The signage on this method of parking includes the following: ✅ Time Limits (Parking duration) ✅ Permit Requirement ✅ Payment Instructions This method of parking usually is closely monitored by the local authorities to maintain obedience and regulations. #OnStreetParking #StreetParking #ParkingSolutions #UrbanParking #ParkingSpace #CityParking #ParkSmart #StreetPark #ParkingTips #ParkingChallenge #ParkingManagement #SmartParking #ParkingSolutions #ParkSmart #ParkingTech #ParkingSystem #UrbanMobility #ParkingEfficiency #ParkingInnovation #SmartCityParking
