It was great to see some of our members and staff last week at the RePaDD End of Year review. Director Jennifer Tieman shared her reflections on 2024 and we also got to hear from some of our researchers and professional staff on project highlights throughout 2024. The updates demonstrated the diversity of activities occurring across the centre and the energy that has been created from new projects and directions throughout the year. All contributing to "making a difference to care at the end of life"

It's official! We are delighted to announce the establishment of the ANU Centre for Energy Systems (ACES), a new centre with some familiar faces. ACES incorporates the ANU Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program and the ANU 100% Renewable Energy Group (RE100 ANU), bringing together some of the world's pioneering experts in clean energy technologies. The Centre is co-led by two exceptional female leaders, Professor Kylie Catchpole FAA FTSE and Associate Professor Heather Logie and draws together researchers working on key areas of energy transition including socio-techno-economic analysis, the electrification of transport, multi-energy system modelling, pumped hydro energy storage, perovskite and tandem solar cell development and green hydrogen. Here is a short video introducing Kylie and her outstanding research achievements in increasing solar cell efficiency and solar hydrogen technology. 🤩 The video was created by the The Australian Academy of Science where Kylie was recently elected a Fellow by her peers. https://lnkd.in/gNhSFR8X One key focus area of ACES going forward will be pumped hydro. Approximately 95% of the world's long duration energy storage comes from pumped hydro. Off-river pumped hydro is an affordable, environmentally sound form of storage and there is much that can be done in this space to assist the energy transition, particularly in our neighbouring South East Asian countries. We are honoured to be working with, and supporting, Professor Andrew Blakers and his Eureka award winning Pumped Hydro Energy Storage Atlases, an extraordinarily useful set of resources that identify 860,000 suitable off-river pumped hydro sites worldwide. #energyinnovation #pumpedhydro #PHES #energystorage #energysystems #energypioneers #energytransition #trailblazing #knowledgesharing #capacitybuilding

Stories can drive impact. 🌍 Our team at SitePartners loved working with our friends at Creative Energy to help communicate their incredible story and commitment to decarbonization. This immense problem requires a unique perspective - and a rare set of expertise to solve this challenge. ⚡️ As a dynamic energy developer Creative Energy is uniquely positioned to disrupt the status quo, accelerate change and help lead the way to a cleaner, greener and more connected world. Decarbonization cannot wait - however the story can often be a little difficult to truly understand. SitePartners worked with the talented team at Creative Energy to not only communicate the current challenge - but position Creative Energy as an innovative solution that can drive real change. (👋 This is the type of work our agency loves to partner on: complex industrial stories that when creatively told - can drive impact and emotion). Thanks to the incredible team at Creative Energy for working together with our team at Site to put this story together. Thanks to Samson Tam. Diego Mandelbaum, Eshita Bhatnagar, Kieran McConnell and the entire Creative Energy team for the passion and drive to make an impact. A big shout out to our creative team on this project: Jono Saye, Justin Van Mulligen, Mitchell Toth, Alex Beach, Jadon Plett, Connor McCreadie, Tyler de Blieck and many more Site team members! Check out the 🎥 story below! 👇

Solar is booming in America. Industry estimates suggest that by 2033, there could be nearly twice as many solar jobs as there are today. But right now, almost every solar installer in the country is running into hiring issues. They can’t find enough qualified workers, and there aren’t enough training opportunities for folks looking to build up their skillsets. When the folks at YouthBuild Global looked at those numbers, they saw an opportunity. Since the 80s, YouthBuild has helped young people complete high school while training them for high-demand professions. They’ve built a network of 240 programs spread across the U.S. that provide pathways to good-paying jobs to the 4.7 million working-age young people across the country today who aren’t in school or employed. Now, with support from Invest in Our Future, they’re expanding a Solar Jobs Pathway across their network—offering folks they serve the chance to gain the skills needed to enter and excel in the solar industry. Last month, they kicked off a solar panel training and certification pilot program in three YouthBuild program locations. Next year, they’ll expand to 16 more locations, giving them the capacity to train more than 200 young people a year for solar jobs. We were delighted to join YouthBuild a few weeks ago in announcing this expansion at the Classroom to Career Summit hosted at the White House. And we were inspired to be among hundreds of leaders connecting hardworking people to the many, many quality jobs created by the federal government’s investments in clean energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing. At our last project meeting in Linz at OÖ Energiesparverband all project partners from six european countries came together to exchange knowledge and experiences regarding #EnergyCommunities 🗣 Ingo Ball (WIP Renewable Energies) summarizes the discussion, focusing on the distinct national contexts for establishing and fostering energy communities, as outlined in the EU’s RED II directive. Partners delve into the opportunities, challenges, and unique characteristics present in each country. The insights gleaned from this Landscape Analysis will prove invaluable in shaping the development of ECTOs (Energy Community Transformation Offices). These ECTOs, envisioned as information hubs for local stakeholders, are slated for launch in target regions by autumn 2024. ✨ https://lnkd.in/d5kyCQ2u #RenewableEnergy #LIFEprogramme #CleanEnergyEU #Germany LIFE Programme Project Partners: Escan consultoría energética Black Sea Energy Research Centrе WIP Renewable Energies Bürgerstiftung Energiewende Oberland OÖ Energiesparverband Ayuntamiento de Rivas Vaciamadrid Technological University of the Shannon Tipperary Energy Agency #energetsko_podnebna_agencija_za_podravje #chernomorski_izledovateleski_energien_tsentar #municipality_of_selnica_ob_dravi #templederry_renewable_energy_supply #municipality_of_Gabrovo
