RES SARL’s Post

EXPLORE Last month, RES conducted non-invasive examinations on two remarkable paintings from the collections of the Musée des Beaux Arts de Tours. The first picture analyzed was a gilded panel depicting Archangel Gabriel by the Venetian artist Antonio Vivarini. This painting is part of a series that includes two additional works by Vivarini, one featuring Saint Louis of Toulouse and another showcasing Saint Anthony of Padua. Following this, the team assessed a significant oil painting from 1656 titled "Landscape with Saint Zosimus Bringing Communion to Saint Mary Magdalene" by French artist Philippe de Champaigne. The paintings underwent a comprehensive series of tests including infrared, UV, false color, and grazing light photography. These assessments are critical for developing informed restoration and conservation strategies.
