As postgrads, we all know the struggle of balancing work and studies. But what if we reframed research as formalized curiosity? Zora Neale Hurston perfectly captures the essence: "Research is poking and prying with a purpose." At Research4You, we believe curiosity is the driving force behind ground-breaking research. Every question you ask, every challenge you explore, fuels your journey. So keep questioning! Keep exploring! You've got this! #research #postgradlife #curiosity #research4you

Last week, our mentees embarked on an exciting voyage into the realm of academic research, starting with the foundational task of selecting a research topic. Here's a guide to illuminate this crucial step: 🧭✨ 🔍 Interest & Passion: Choose a topic that lights a fire within you. Your curiosity is your compass! 💡 Originality: Seek the path less traveled. A fresh perspective or unexplored areas can make all the difference. 🌟 Relevance: Aim for a topic that not only fuels your curiosity but also promises to add value to the field. 🎯 Feasibility: Ensure your dream topic is grounded in reality - consider time, resources, and data availability. ✅ Clarity & Specificity: A well-defined question is your best guide. It keeps your research focused and meaningful. Navigating the Topic Selection Process: ● Start broad, then zoom in. 🌍➡️🔬 ● Dive into the literature to spot uncharted territories. 📚 ● Engage in discussions to refine your ideas. 💬 ● Tailor your scope to fit the practical landscape. 📐 ● Craft clear research questions to lead the way. ❓ Overcoming Obstacles: ● Stumped by too many interests concentrate on what truly captivates you. ● Struggling for uniqueness? Mix disciplines or innovate with new methods. ● Limited by resources? Get creative with your data collection strategy. 🛠 As our mentees navigate these steps, they’re not just selecting a topic; they're setting the stage for a journey of discovery that’s uniquely theirs. Join us as we cheer them on, from the first spark of interest in the final presentation of their findings. Stay tuned for more insights as we demystify each phase of the research process. Together, let’s transform curiosity into scholarly achievement. 🌈🎓 #ResearchJourney #FutureScholars #AcademicAdventure #ExplorationAndDiscovery Follow our page for insights into each step of the research process, as our mentees transform curiosity into scholarly achievement. #ResearchJourney #FutureScholars

In the exciting world of Research, there's a quality that sets remarkable scholars apart that is Intellectual Curiosity. Think back to when you were a kid, endlessly asking "why" and eagerly seeking answers. That same curiosity fuels our research endeavors today, propelling us to delve deeper, question assumptions, and push the boundaries of knowledge. What's truly fascinating about curiosity is how infectious it is. It's like a flame that spreads from one person to another, igniting passion and inspiring others to embark on their own journeys of discovery. And let's not forget the thrill of the chase—the excitement of uncovering something new and the satisfaction of solving a puzzle. It's that feeling that keeps us coming back for more, even when the road gets tough. But curiosity isn't just about individual growth—it's about connection and collaboration. It's about coming together, sharing ideas, and building on each other's work to achieve something greater than what any one person could accomplish alone. So as we celebrate the impact of curiosity on research and innovation, let's also celebrate the curiosity that lives within each of us. It's what makes us human, what drives us to explore, and what keeps the flame of discovery burning bright. How has curiosity shaped your journey in research? I'd love to hear your stories and insights! #Research #IntellectualCuriosity #Innovation #LifelongLearning #CriticalThinking #InterdisciplinaryResearch #AcademicExcellence

Science isn't linear, it's a rollercoaster 🎢 Rather than being a straight line from idea to discovery, the scientific journey is full of twists and turns, ups and downs, and unexpected detours. But this messy, non-linear reality of science is what makes it so exciting! 😍 As scientists and science communicators, we have the power to bring this journey to life for our audiences. By sharing the highs and lows, the setbacks and breakthroughs, we can help people see that science is a process, not just a destination 🔬 It's important to showcase this complexity so that people can truly understand and appreciate the hard work, dedication, and expert problem solving that underpins each and every scientific discovery. This can help to humanise the science and connect with people on a more authentic and personal level, breaking down the barrier between the scientific community and the public 🤝 So the next time you're crafting a science story, remember to embrace the rollercoaster ride! #scienceresearch #scientificdiscovery #sciencestorytelling #scicomm #academia

𝐈𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬? 🎓 This moment catapults me back in time to when I was doing my PhD… exciting & life-changing times for sure. 🤔Why do I want to write about it? It’s because it was a type of official turning point in my life & career, very emotional & meaningful. Also: because showing emotions & feelings is still something many people struggle with, I’m also working on that myself. 😭 Especially the crying part is tricky, even more so, doing that when others witness it. Its extra hard. & then imagine: in the middle of the world of academia, being a PhD student in her third year & standing in front of several professors, presenting her PhD progress, with the plan to share with them that I want to leave academia…maybe that makes the emotional part of it a bit more understandable 😉 ☝️🏼 But before I get to the moment, there are some other important things to write about: I have never been a very stereotypical scientist or how many scientists are, or become. To me it was always important to pay strong attention to the human-ness of our beings. 🤩Meaning: data, numbers, logic, rationality & statistics is not everything. Not in Science & not in Humans. & because Humans do the actual Science, this merger also should allow for human-factors to occur in the science world. For me that means: emotions, feelings, life circumstances, social aspects, psychology, group behavior & communication have a place in Science! 👩🏼In my case this would result in… Feel free to subscribe & keep on readaing here: https://lnkd.in/dHb2RgkT ⭐️ How do you feel about the human-ness factor in Science?⭐️ Love, Daria 💚 ------------------------ Follow for more science & art updates Ring the 🔔 for new post notifications from me Feel free to DM me if you need help with scientific illustrations🎨! #dcsciart #scientificillustration #science #humanness #emotions

How do you evaluate and measure something that was created to be different? What do you measure yourself against? And how do you monitor the impact of something as simple as a conversation, and the impact that can have in the journey to create a fascinating new interdisciplinary research project? Read this blog post from last year, where Kate Kellett describes how we designed our #evaluation framework, and the challenges we faced in doing so: https://lnkd.in/eDEz92EY #Evaluation #Impact #Interdisciplinary #Research #ThrowBack #ResearchDevelopment #ResearcherDevelopment
