This staggering fact underscores the urgency for action. Healthtech bridges this gap. Take a moment. Think about it. Lifesaving technology. Accessible to all. This is the potential we have in our hands as healthtech developers. "Health is a human right," says Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. 🤔 But why do so many still suffer? This is a question that demands our attention. Sometimes it feels like we've become complacent. We assume technological advances will trickle down, but they don't. We need deliberate action to make a difference. 🤔 Have you ever thought about the impact of mobile health units? That are equipped with ML/AI diagnostics solutions? 🤔 Or wellable tech monitoring kinder in real-time for those without regular medical access? 🤔 Or innovations like portable water purification systems? These are WAY MORE than ideas or concepts. These are opportunities for us. These are also achievable innovations. I can share with you all the gratitude in the eyes of those that we've been fortunate to help. But you kinda of have had to in these moments to really get an idea of how humbling our solutions are. Being in your position or our collective positions, we can all connect and change the world. But we must act intentionally. Why Do Purpose and Vision Matter More Than Ever in Healthtech? Finding your North Star is absolutely necessary in the wide world of healthcare and healthtech. Our focus should be on the intersection of our passions, abilities, and contributions. It's the sweet spot where we can add the most value for ourselves and others. Innovation in healthtech involves more than just technical skills, it all boils down to having a strong sense of purpose and vision. As developers, we have to go through this complex ecosystem, but determining our main focal point is key to unlocking the future of healthcare. Finding this focal point isn't as simple as it appears. It really requires the necessary clarity, guts, and commitment. In the end though, it's so worth it! Clinical adoption is the holy grail of HealthTech success. 😫 But so many companies can't seem to find it. I have produced this carousel as part of a presentation I am doing this week together with Barry Shrier as part of the GIANT Health Event. The truth is, most healthtech innovation don't get used. 👇 Often it stems from a: Lack of evidence Lack of awareness Lack of clinical need Lack of engagement Lack of change management But there are also remedies to the above and I have listed 7 key recommendation for HealthTech companies in this carousel. That’s a wrap on the Women's Health Innovation Series USA! Yesterday was the last day of the conference but it was still packed with engaging panel sessions and 1-2-1 meetings. Empowering words from the opening panel of Elizabeth Bailey, Trish Costello, Susan Nicholson MD FIDSA, Diana Torgersen and Megan Greenfield, Ph.D. as they discussed the ‘Health of Women’ and the integral part it plays in the health of every single person on the planet. Susan’s comments echoed the points raised on day one about the importance of reimbursement strategies for early innovators – if there isn’t an existing CPT code then this hurdle needs to be well understood, as there is no business without someone paying for it. Caution was also advised to those intending for users to pay out of pocket for new innovation, as this could create further wealth disparities within the sector. This was explored again in the afternoon session; ‘Next Generation of Imaging – Increasing Access in Cancer Screening’ panel with Marissa Fayer, Connie Lehman, Jyoti Gupta, PhD and Andrew Smith. It is clear the standard of care in the US is very high, but the panel touched on how to address the issue of quality being very heterogeneous. With a conversation on next gen tech, AI was naturally discussed with a focus on how it can simplify, optimise, and automate more of the administrative radiology tasks to free up time and help lower the barrier to access. Finally, after originally meeting a couple of years back as FemTech Lab mentors, (the catalyst to my work for eg technology Ltd in this sector) it was great to see Megan Sands present Ellele Health in the startup showcase.
