🧠🇺🇸 Important Fact: African American veterans are 1.5 times more likely to experience PTSD compared to their counterparts. This higher rate is influenced by unique stressors, such as racial discrimination and systemic inequities, that can impact their mental health during and after military service. What can we do to support them? Advocate for and support policies that promote equitable, culturally competent mental health care. Raise awareness about the challenges African American veterans face. Encourage community-based programs that provide safe spaces and resources tailored to their experiences. Let’s commit to a future where every veteran receives the care and support they deserve. Together, we can make a difference. #AAMWA #RMRT #VeteransDay #PTSDawareness #SupportBlackVeterans #MentalHealth

September is Suicide Prevention Month. While it’s important for those struggling to be aware of the unconditional support resources available, it’s important for those of us who might be thriving to be present, aware and supportive for those around us. 🕊️ Be present. Practice “active listening”. What’s being said, and potentially what is NOT being said. 🕊️ Be caring, alert and remove judgments. Be good humans, people helping each other. Being there. 🕊️Practice acts of kindness and compassion. It can be as simple as a phone call, saying hi, was thinking about you and something uplifting. A phone call, a handshake, a hug, sharing a few minutes of your time with someone can be a lifetime changer for others. 💕🤝 Boulder Crest Foundation 🇺🇸 FirstNet, Built with AT&T 🇺🇸 AT&T First Responder Employee Network (AFREN) ATT Veterans Employee Resource Group #ConnectingChangesEverything #BeGoodHumans #SafeSpace #ActiveListening

Awareness is key....
I Have PTSD. - June is PTSD Awareness Month - it doesn't mean I'm different or you should be hesitant to address, there never need to say “I'm sorry “ just know it doesn't just say come from War situation from the military. - It can be from work, bullies, sexual Trama, or even Phobias, and everyone translates it differently to their personal situation. It can happen to your kids, spouses friends, mothers, fathers and even can be you. so learn more about it so you cannot only help others as well as yourself. - Trust me I know and I do - Make sure to share as someone may need to hear this message. Take care of yourself.. Chef (Andre) Rush #ptsdawarnessmonth #ptsd #mentalhealth #military #family #june

On Remembrance Day, we honour the sacrifice soldiers make as well as the ongoing challenges they face when they return. For many veterans, trauma, loss and stress don’t end when they leave the battlefield. Invisible wounds like PTSD, anxiety and depression can impact their mental wellbeing and daily life. Therapy can be a powerful tool for healing. Evidence-based treatments like CBT, EMDR and support groups can all help people process trauma and manage symptoms. Today, let’s remember the strength it takes to seek support for trauma and remind people they’re not alone. #RemembranceDay #Army #VeteranMentalHealth #MentalHealthSupport #PTSD #MentalHealth #Therapy #PTSDAwareness

In an interview with ROI-NJ, our Executive Director, Major General Mark Graham (Retired), shares why consistency is the key to breaking down barriers to mental health support. “Consistency is the key. If someone goes from one military base, where the environment made it safe to get help, then goes to another military base where you don’t get the same feeling – it’s like two steps forward and one step back. If there is a consistent message in the workplace that says if you need help, it is ok to get it – that is a healthy environment whether it is a civilian workplace or a military base. Easy to say but hard to do. Be consistent. We need to make sure everyone is rowing in the same direction.” Read the full article to learn how Vets4Warriors® is building bridges through peer support, one conversation at a time: https://lnkd.in/exWa42j3 #MentalHealth #VeteransSupport #Vets4Warriors #PeerSupport #EndTheStigma #MilitaryFamilies

PTSD is more common among those who are currently serving, or have served, in the military. However, Trauma and Stressor-Related Disorders can also affect the general public, including children. Remember: seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. It's a decisive step toward reclaiming your life. It can be difficult to explain the realities of a parent’s service to children, which can include deployments and postings, as well as the possible mental health impacts, and to do it in a way that makes sense to them. Discover an array of storybooks that help explain mental health and military service to children on our #MonthoftheMilitaryChild page: https://lnkd.in/e4AeCakz
