Miami Tunnel personnel's role in identifying hazardous materials is crucial in keeping the tunnel safe in a toxic spill emergency. ☢️ That's why we participated in a hazardous spill simulation with the hazmat team and local responders, who have expert training to recognize certain placards indicating the transportation of toxic or hazardous materials. Miami Tunnel doesn’t allow cargo trucks to carry hazardous materials through the tunnel, but we believe we’re better safe than sorry. By learning the steps to take after identifying hazardous materials, we can quickly alert emergency responders of the incident. We're proud of our work together to keep our community out of harm's way! #MiamiTunnel #SafetyPreparedness #SafetyFirst #HazmatSimulation #EmergencyResponders

Today's Warn Room post 🚨 asks alerting authorities to consider their use of WEA for everyday events, like road closures. This is a topic that I see frequently included by a few states during "blue sky days" and I wonder how these messages affect public perception and understanding of Wireless Emergency Alerts 🚨. Don't get me wrong - sometimes sending a WEA for a traffic event seems like the best way to alert a lot of people about a really dangerous situation; these include dust storm, ice, or blizzard conditions which can result in car pile ups or stranded drivers. I'm actually really hopeful that in the near future, new technologies like those being developed by Cory James Hohs and HAAS Alert are going to lead to in-vehicle messages going ONLY to those on the road or in danger. But until then, I raise the question "what about those road closure messages?" Take a look at the blog below, and let me know what you think? Can we do better? Responding to incidents can be a challenging task. The Incident Command Staff must prioritize safety by establishing safety zones, identifying potential risks, and setting protocols to mitigate those risks. By doing so, they can ensure that the response to any incident is safe, effective, and efficient. #incidentresponse #safetyprotocols #riskmanagement

Nobody listens to me 😢 - Yellow Light As per IRC: 93-1985- A traffic signal indication for which the yellow lens is illuminated with rapid intermittent flashes to signify that drivers of vehicles may proceed through the intersection or pass such signal only with caution. ⚫ Key Functions of the Yellow Light 1) Transition Time: It offers a buffer period for drivers to react and make safe decisions. 2) Accident Prevention: It helps prevent accidents at intersections by signaling drivers to stop soon. 3) Traffic Flow Management: It aids in maintaining a smooth transition between stopping and starting, preventing abrupt halts and ensuring a steady flow of traffic. 📌 Respecting the yellow light is essential for: Safety, Efficiency and Responsibility Next time you see the yellow light, remember its plea: “Nobody listens to me.” Let’s change that by giving it the attention it deserves. Slow down, prepare to stop, and drive safely. 💛
