We are proud to be the current guardians of Armstrong Works alongside Pearson Engineering Ltd. This historic building has been a cornerstone of defence industry since the 1800s. Its rich history is evident throughout the building and grounds here in Newcastle upon Tyne. We’re proud to pick-up the batten at this stage in the site’s legacy with new investment, new programmes and new life. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eaDBKaFW #ArmstrongWorks #History
Purpose built to manufacture battle tanks. In one end, out of the other. I don’t think it dates back that far (I’m sure old elswick works figures in the history books) and was let to get into a state of poor condition externally before being fully cleaned up a few years back. Glad it’s still going though, as I remember it when it was brand new, and has, and had seen, some extremely skilled staff under its roof. Long may it continue.
Fantastic factory - with full end to end cranes that can carry 50tonnes.
What an iconic building! Imagine how it would look with a beautiful solar array on top ;)
Amazing history of the Workshop of the world 😊 thanks for sharing.
