Have you ever noticed that different restaurants play different music, at different volumes. 🎻 Low-key instrumental that you can barely hear in the background. 🎹 Upbeat pop that’s just a little too loud for intimate conversation. 🎙️ Classic hits that fill the silence but don’t overtake the conversation. Restaurant music perfectly matches the vibe they’re trying to create. 💥 (Hello Burger Fuel!) It’s like that for workshops too. For most of my workshops I have an upbeat playlist that’s already in motion as people to start to arrive. 🕺 They’re mostly 70’s and 80’s classics, with a low-key disco overtone. The playlist is designed to lift the mood and get people humming along. Sometimes it even sparks spontaneous chair-dancing. Recently I facilitated a workshop that needed people to be a little more reflective than usual, so I queued up different music for arrival. As the first person entered the room, they immediately nodded in the direction of my speaker. “Hey, we’ve got different music today. I know what that means.” If you think people don’t notice the details. This summer we tested out a belief that the lack of availability of espresso martini's at major events (festivals, music venues, sports stadiums, etc.) was an enormous missed opportunity and that BOMANI was the perfect solution. The simple realization we had is that when we attended music festivals we couldn't get espresso martinis. Which sucks when you consider it's the perfect drink for that occasion. BOMANI profitably solves that problem. No need to mix, shake, chill, etc. All you need to do is crack open a cold can and enjoy a delicious, premium espresso martini wherever you want. At our first major event (music, extreme sports, big letters that come before "Y") we were the top selling product of the weekend from a dollar sales perspective and it wasn't particularly close. What we learned is that our hypothesis was correct. People want espresso martinis in a delicious, convenient, better-for-you format and BOMANI is the answer.

This clip stopped me in my scroll. A man is served his pizza in a nice but not fancy Italian restaurant. Without warning or introduction, he begins belting Verdi's "La donna è mobile" from Rigoletto. The restaurant is instantly transformed. Forks were held mid-bite. Conversations halted. A waiter froze, his pitcher tilted above a glass. The entire restaurant was suspended in time. It turns out the man is Germany's Got Talent winner, and professionally trained opera singer, Ricardo Marinello. Apparently this is Ricardo’s shtick. He eats at Italian restaurants around the world and suddenly starts singing opera. But here's what fascinated me: If it was anything but music, an interruption during dinner would be met with annoyance. Imagine a juggler or magician during apps. A mime or comedian over soup. You'd probably ask for the check. But music? Music gets a free pass. It doesn't need permission to electrify an atmosphere. It simply does. It delights by transforming strangers into audience members, and a routine Tuesday dinner into an unforgettable experience. Only music can turn an interruption into an invitation. This is the power of music. This is why I love working in the music industry so much. #CreativeStrategy #CustomerExperience
