To entice more passengers to purchase premium seating, Delta has made them more affordable, and invested billions of dollars to elevate the flying experience - from luxury lounges to a sommelier team advising on wine pairings. The airline has exclusive lounges in Los Angeles and New York that cater to top-tier travelers, with more locations coming soon. The strategy is working, with more customers choosing premium options, particularly for the lounges. Premium sections now occupy about 30% of Delta's plane seats, compared to approximately 10% twenty years ago. Delta continues to innovate, adding new features and choices for those seeking both premium and budget-friendly options. Here’s what I’ve noticed: 🛫 Cost-Cutting Measures: Many airlines have reduced services to remain competitive. Complimentary meals and snacks are now less common, especially in economy class. 💺 Reduced Comfort: To maximize passenger numbers, airlines have decreased seat pitch and legroom, making flights less comfortable. 💸 Increased Fees: Extra charges for checked baggage, seat selection, and in-flight entertainment have become standard, leading to a perception of reduced value. These trends reflect a broader shift in the airline industry from passenger comfort to cost efficiency. As a passenger, it’s disheartening to see this decline in hospitality.
