Youth homelessness poses significant barriers to stable employment due to lack of documentation, discrimination, and support networks. Initiatives offering vocational training, wraparound services, and mentorship are crucial in providing homeless youth with skills and support needed for employment. Advocacy efforts are essential in addressing systemic issues. Together, these approaches can break down barriers and create pathways to employment for homeless youth. #YouthHomelessness #EmploymentOpportunities #VocationalTraining #SupportServices #Mentorship #Advocacy #BreakingBarriers #HomelessYouth #Empowerment

Hi I need your help! I work with multiple levels of government on housing and homelessness. My role is to empower and uplift the voices of lived experts and advocates into conversations with decision makers. A consistent challenge we have is that the staff and elected officials we work with really struggle to receive the wisdom they have asked for. They are already under a lot of pressure and so understandably struggle to not take advocacy and lived expertise personally. This is a huge issue as lived expertise is critical to help name gaps and the way government systems have harmed people. If staff don't have the tools to process and receive advocacy they will continue to replicate harmful ways of doing things. Do you know anyone writing or consulting in this area? I need a set of tools to help the government officials I work with unpack their bureaucrat fragility and separate themselves from the system enough that they can come to the table as a strategic partner. If you work in government, what has helped you be strategic about your positionality in relationship to systems of harm and advocacy? #livedexperience #advocacy #governmentinnovation #fragility #bureaucracy

What exactly is Affordable Housing? Affordable Housing refers to housing that is no more than 30% of a household’s income. If you are low-income, you can seek help from community organizations for housing. Waitlists for Affordable Housing are long, and some may take even years. If you’re invited to apply, be prepared to provide identification, proof of income, birth certificates of minors, and proof that at least one individual in the household is a legal resident. #JusticeForAll #LegalAid #AccessToJustice #SocialJustice #CommunityService #Empowerment #Advocacy #PolicyChange #SocialChange #LosAngeles #California #AffordableHousing

It will be interesting to see what outcomes happen from the Department of Social Services for all people who have a disability, not only NDIS participants. Department of Communities Office of Disabilities has been silent since holding consultations on the Legislative Reform of the Disability Services Act 1993, more than a year ago now. The Office of Disability will provide disability sector stewardship, advice on State and Commonwealth systems, and drive work and innovation to advance inclusion and participation of people with disability in Western Australia - taken from their webpage. It will also provide leadership to implement, monitor and further develop 'A Western Australia for Everyone: State Disability Strategy 2020-2030' - also taken from their webpage. #disabilityrights #disabilityinclusion #LivedExperience #advocacy #peersupport #community #pceppeerleadershipprogram
