It’s nearly time for us to make an impact across all of Europe! 🌍🤗 From tomorrow until Friday (27 – 29 November) we’ll be part of #ImpactWeek, discussing new ideas and discovering new trends with like-minded organisations across the continent. Like our community here in Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, they’re working alongside social businesses to maximise their impact. Impact Week is about getting together with partners from further afield to celebrate the wins, learn from the losses and work out ways for changemakers to maximise their impact for both people and the planet. The three days of Impact Week are akin to the three acts of a play and include ‘Madness’ – understanding the mad world we live in; ‘Boldness’ – realising we must be bold to change it; and ‘Brightness’ – working together for a brighter tomorrow. ‘If we want to live in a brighter world, we need to get together – and get to work!’ is the philosophy of Impact Week – and we couldn’t agree more. As an NGO committed to accelerate and empower social environmental businesses worldwide, especially in the marine waste sector, we are eager to engage with fellow attendees to share insights, collaborate on impactful initiatives, and collectively work towards a sustainable future. Yes, the world feels crazy at times—but remember, a lot of good is happening too. People are building, innovating, and connecting for a brighter future. The world needs bold, crazy ideas. What an insightful, inspiring, and impactful three days at Impact Week 2024! 🙌 🌍💚 A heartfelt thanks to Marta del Castillo for moderating enlightening conversation during the session “An integrated finance approach to solve the water crisis.” 🙌 It was an honor to join Raul Pomares Facundo Etchebehere and Daniel Valenzuela. Big thanks to Iñigo Eguia for all the effort in coordinating us. As devastating floods swept through Europe this year and climate-related losses topped €13 billion in Europe, the urgency for action could not be clearer. ➡️ Collaboration is key: scaling fragmented efforts into holistic, long-term approaches and leveraging blended finance with diverse instruments can make a real difference. ➡️ Just as important is how we view water - not merely as a resource we use but as the essence of our landscapes, businesses, and lives. 🌍💧 🌟 Impact Week set the stage for some of the most prominent changemakers and thought leaders driving impact across sectors through three themes: ➡️ Madness: Acknowledging the challenges of a mad world. ➡️ Boldness:Taking bold steps to address them. ➡️ Brightness: Working tirelessly for a brighter future. 👥👥 Listening to numerous conversations across Impact Week sessions - from the Policy Hub on enabling EU policies for impact through discussions on mobilizing capital through innovative tools like catalytic capital to advancing impact investments in Central and Eastern Europe, proved that profound impact is possible, but effective mobilization of private and public funding is critical for moving forward. 📣 Last but not least session - Youth Hackathon led by Mondragon University & Seed Capital Bizkaia, was powerful and emotional close. Seeing 60 student innovators reimagine how to build an Impact City left me filled with deep hope for the future. 🌟💡💚🙌 Congratulations to #ImpactEurope and everyone who made this week so transformative. 🙌💚 #ImpactWeek #CollaborationForChange #BlendedFinance #Comnonland

A few months ago we joined Impact Europe as a new member, and just last week we were at the flagship event of the year, Impact Week, in no other place than Bilbao, our home! This conference looked like any other conference where investors, entrepreneurs and policy makers meet, but something felt different: - Women speakers, panelists, policy makers, moderators, founders, directors, entrepreneurs... women everywhere. So refreshing. - When we pitched our radical approach of transforming companies (through self management, distribution of power, and putting people at the center), we were welcomed with overwhelming enthusiasm and support 💞, instead of the traditional fear and skepticism that comes when you challenge the "old paradigm". - Strong sense of common purpose where the participants where not there to compete against each other, but to support each other to become stronger until Impact Investment becomes trully embedded in the way all investment are made. Until we become the future. In fact, we already are the future! 😉 Finally, as a fun fact we learned from Raúl Sánchez, PhD from COFIDES that Netherlands has largest pool of Impact initiatives in the European Union, and Spain the second. These two nations combined would hold the largest pool of Public Impact funds in the world! Coincidence or destiny that we have offices in Bilbao and Eindohoven? 🪄 🤩 We feel very grateful for all the connections we made, and look forward to continuing the conversations, and explore how to support each other.
