After lumber has been dried, it enters the Planer Mill to be processed by the planer into a dressed, industry-specific size. Each board is identified and tracked on a lug-chain using Programmable Logic Control (PLC) technology. It then passes through a Grader-Optimizer that scans each board for defects and determines which grade it best meets. The board is sent through a trim saw that cuts it to a specific length and is given a grade stamp. It then automatically drops into the Sorter Bay by grade and length determined by the PLC. Once full, it is then dropped out and sent to the Stacker to be stacked into either a half pack or full pack of lumber. These packs are then strapped, labeled by grade and length, and are ready for shipping.                                                                                                                #sawmill #plantingtoproject #sawmill #lumber #lumbergrades #southernyellowpine #wood #forestry #sustainable #PLC #ProgrammableLogicControl #planer #planermill #automation #plctraining

Very good, simple explanation of how kiln dried rough sawn lumber is dressed and trimmed for maximum mill return. 👍
