When looking at the architectural industry today, hand drawing plans and details is an ever-increasing rarity. Whilst technological advances have improved efficiency and helped to streamline processes, has this push forward been at the behest of art? . In our practice, we seek to nurture the artistic skills that drew us to the field in the first place. We find that sketching out our projects opens our minds to creativity and ideas that may have otherwise been overlooked. You may recognise this drawing of a cupola, which formed one of the two options for a country house in the United States that we are working on. Drawing at 1:50 for this feature allowed us to consider whether the level of detailing was appropriate for its scale. . Do you believe there is still a place for hand drawings in architecture? We would love to hear your opinion. . #architecturalpainting #architect #handdrawing #sketch #watercolourpainting #architecturewatercolour #architecturereel #country house #countryhousedesign #countryhouseinspo #newhousedesign #americanhousedesign #newbuild #classicalarchitecture #britisharchitect

Your quick guide to address “Torsional Irregularity” . . “WHEN AN ARCHITECT PROHIBITS ADDING SHEAR WALLS” . . There are two things to consider. 1️⃣ Firstly, if you already have some walls available but need additional walls to meet your design requirements, you can try increasing the thickness and strength of the existing walls. Tip: “Or removing them in some cases to balance the lateral system.” 2️⃣ Secondly, if you have no walls available, your system would be a Moment Resisting Frame System in accordance with ASCE Table 12.2-1. The first step is to check the code height limits, and then adjust the columns and their dimensions in such a way that the center of rigidity is close to the center. This will help control Torsional Irregularity. ◾ If additional improvements are still needed, consider adding braced members to the structure. These members can provide additional lateral stiffness and help control torsional irregularity. "When it comes to lifting CLT panels during the assembly stage, we prioritize efficiency and aesthetics. While slings are commonly used for heavier elements, they can leave holes in the CLT, impacting the visual appeal of the exposed surfaces. Architects understand the importance of preserving the visual impression of CLT structures, which is why alternative solutions are sought to maintain the integrity of the design. We strive to balance functionality and aesthetics in every project, ensuring that the beauty of CLT remains uncompromised", our CEO Dusan Milutinovic shares some behind-the-scene facts in timber construction. #CLT #Construction #Innovation

Modern buildings achieve the illusion of floating bricks through structural design and architectural techniques. One method involves using cantilevered construction, where bricks are extended beyond the building's support structure, giving the impression of suspension. Hidden steel or concrete beams provide stability while maintaining the appearance of weightlessness. Another approach utilizes glass curtain walls, allowing bricks to seemingly hover behind transparent surfaces, enhancing the perception of levitation. Additionally, precise placement and spacing of bricks create visually seamless patterns, contributing to the illusion. Through innovative engineering and design principles, modern architecture defies gravity, captivating observers with the mesmerizing sight of floating bricks. #ModernArchitecture #FloatingBricks #ArchitecturalIllusion #StructuralDesign #CantileverConstruction #InnovativeEngineering #ArchitecturalTechniques #LevitatingBricks #DesignInnovation #GravityDefyingArchitecture https://lnkd.in/gpsUf2fY Marcio Leão Parastoo Azad Nitesh Kumar Purohit Pareekh Jain Dr.Subramanian, Ph.D., FNAE, F.ASCE, M.ACI Narayanan Felipe Ochoa Cornejo 👨🏻🏫🇨🇱 Yeo Chee Min Oliver Jones Tanvir Hussain Prashant Srivastava Civil Er.Jai Kumar Tiwari Nitin Gupta Florian Palatini Grant LeBeau, EIT Gregory Harington Rajashekar Bhukya

Illusion of floating bricks is beautifully explained in this video along with a masterclass on brick architecture traditions
