A bit of a peek into the depths of one of our R&D labs in Europe. This old Miniscribe drive from an Australian customer had drifted out of alignment after years of service, and then a recent lightning strike finished off the electronics. After assessing the options our Hardware R&D Team Lead Robin England was able to modify the drive circuitry to hold the read gate open, allowing him to manually align the heads - by hand - over each track to recover this customers data one piece at a time. Great work happens every day at Ontrack but every now and then you get an amazing reminder of the unique skills of our people.

Today, I completed my second task for the Institute of Control Systems: developing a parking system using RFID technology. I utilized various keys with different IDs for this system. The coding part involves simply detecting and matching these IDs. This is quite similar to the systems used in universities, buses, and many card-based applications. In the demonstration, you can see the live process on the left side of the screen. On the right side, you can see how the program operates, and in the right corner, there's an overview of how the system is set up
