Rail Freight Corridor Network’s Post

Rail Freight Corridor Network reposted this

Maurienne Rockslide updating Due to major site hazards and the discovery of unstable cavities, the reopening of the railway line will not be possible before the 1st quarter of 2025. SNCF Reseau immediately prepared a joint communication with the State services and the Savoie Departmental Council to inform the public at large of this postponement. In fact, since the landslide on 27 August, Infrastructures Managers have lost a considerable amount of revenue due to the interruption of rail traffic on this route. Not to mention the cost involved in this project, which requires a high level of technical expertise! All the organizations involved are more than ever mobilized to continue the work that is leading to the restoration of the railway infrastructure. Priority is also being given to the winter season: SNCF Réseau, SNCF Gares & Connexions, SNCF Voyageurs, and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region are confirming that the arrangements put in place last winter for services to the Maurienne ski resorts for Christmas and the winter holidays will continue.
