HR: We can't pay you more than 5,000 because you're just an intern. Intern: Why? I do every task that the employees undertake. HR: Because you're an intern. Yesterday, I went to see one of my college seniors and she told me one of her recent experiences in corporate. She was called to a cafe by a renowned fashion designer for internship interview. She followed and the recruiter asked for her proficiency in almost every sector of marketing including Social media management, digital marketing, research, brand designing, and so on. And offered 7,000 rs while the gig was work from office. I am disgusted with this. How can companies or clients can not see the worth? Never say yes to such bullshit just like my senior. An employer declined to work with my agency because... "You can't target diverse candidates using social media" Technically they are right. You can’t target audiences with protective characteristics on social media. The platforms don’t allow this as it tends to lead to discriminative practices. However, 96% of hires that come through my agency are from ethnically diverse backgrounds. How? 1. I won’t shut up about helping diverse talent 2. We work with creators from diverse backgrounds 3. We are known for supporting underrepresented talent So naturally, the audience we attract is highly likely to be diverse. At least, that’s what the data shows. So I’d like to think what we do is pretty effective. But most importantly works. Recruiting for our Dublin Tech Hub can be intense. Managing hundreds of applicants while ensuring each one feels valued and heard is no easy task. Yet, whenever it starts to feel overwhelming, I'm reminded of the incredible support I have from my team. A special shoutout to my fantastic EMEA Campus team, ( Sarahjane (Sj) Potter, Alex Frith , Lama Junaid , Erdelyi Anna , Sarah Medhat) for helping me to schedule all those interviews so efficiently, and my local team, especially Ryan Leger and Emanuel C. who not only supported their own SWE teams but also jumped in to help others. Moments like this highlight how teamwork truly make all the difference. There were times when I asked myself, 'how am I going to get through all of this?' but then I’d receive heart-warming emails and messages from students expressing their appreciation, which always reaffirms that I can do it and reminds me 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐈 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐝𝐨 💗 The toughest part? We simply can't hire everyone, and due to the sheer volume of applications, I can't always provide detailed feedback to everyone. However, I wish every candidate the best in their journey. This year’s competition was exceptionally strong, and the talent we saw was truly impressive so I’m certain you will find a great internship! I’m looking forward to meeting our new interns in February 2025!
