"The advancement of technology can be a double-edged sword in healthcare. Through technological advancements, we can make the lives of our staff and our patients much easier and make healthcare more accessible. However, with the same advancements in technology, cybercriminals are finding new ways to breach into healthcare systems and take what they want. We can’t give up the digital transformations we’ve made in our organizations but we also can’t ignore the looming threat of security threats and ransomware attacks." So what is the balance between the two? How can healthcare organizations ensure the security and privacy of patient data while managing large volumes of electronic health records (EHRs)? "But how safe is your system for patient data records?" - This is a question that customers always ask us. Ensuring the security and privacy of patient information is paramount, especially as the healthcare landscape continues to digitize. Let's talk about some of the security benefits of implementing Medial: 👉🏾 Robust Data Encryption: Medial's platform employs a robust encryption protocol to protect patient data from unauthorized access and interception. ✅ What this means for you: By encrypting sensitive information in transit and at rest, healthcare organizations can mitigate the risk of data breaches and ensure that patient records remain confidential and secure. 👉🏾 Access Control Mechanisms: Medial incorporates user-friendly granular access control mechanisms, allowing healthcare providers to easily restrict access to patient records based on role-based permissions. ✅ What this means for you: By enforcing the principle of least privilege, organizations can prevent unauthorized individuals from accessing sensitive patient information, enhancing overall data security. This system is more secure than the file cabinet system we see at institutions! 👉🏾 Audit Trails and Monitoring: Medial features comprehensive audit trails and monitoring capabilities, enabling healthcare organizations to track and monitor user activity within the system. ✅ What this means for you: By logging access attempts, modifications, and data exports, organizations can detect and respond to suspicious behavior in real time, mitigating the risk of insider threats and unauthorized access. 👉🏾 Regular Security Updates and Patches: Our team is not just reactive but continuously releases proactive security updates and patches to address vulnerabilities and strengthen the resilience of their platforms against emerging threats. ✅ What this means for you: By promptly applying these updates, healthcare organizations can proactively mitigate security risks and ensure that their EHR systems remain up-to-date and secure. In an age where data breaches and cyberattacks pose significant threats to healthcare organizations, platforms like Medial play a crucial role in safeguarding patient trust. By implementing robust security measures such as data encryption, access control, and audit trails, healthcare organizations can ensure patient information's confidentiality, integrity, and availability. As we continue to embrace digital transformation in healthcare across the Caribbean, prioritizing data security remains essential to preserving patient trust and advancing the quality of care. Let's build a future where patient data remains secure, and trust in healthcare thrives. #EHR #HealthcareSecurity #DataPrivacy #Cybersecurity #PatientTrust #medialhealth

Preserving Health Care Data Security in 2022 https://lnkd.in/eWwfH5q8 Health care data has become a focus for many recent cybersecurity efforts. The medical industry has become a favorite target of cybercriminals, with one in five Americans having their information exposed in a breach. Regulations like HIPAA require medical organizations to protect patient data, but they often don’t specify how. It’s up to the covered entities themselves to determine what specific protections can help them achieve these ends. Here are five steps to preserve health care data security in 2022. 1. Implement Strict Access Controls The first step organizations should take is to restrict who can access what data. Rising […]

The new year is the perfect reset for healthcare security. Frictionless authentication can revolutionize access in 2024 if we take decisive action. Over 44 million patient records were breached in 2023 as outdated passwords and token-based multifactor betrayed care providers. Medical identities got sold on the criminal underground while hospitals scrambled to take systems offline. This Credenti blog shows why 2024 must usher in major healthcare access management upgrades centered on biometrics. The vision of “Tap-n-Go” frictionless workflows safeguards both patient data and hospital operations: https://lnkd.in/gbzurqFs Frictionless platforms use advanced analytics to verify identity and trust continuously. Suspicious signals trigger an instant lockdown. By removing login rituals like passwords and OTP texts, normal work goes unimpeded. Breach costs plunge as verification is completed behind the scenes in seconds. A frictionless approach embodies Healthcare 3.0 expectations. Patients rightfully demand their providers have robust identity-aware access controls built on zero trust. Tapping into your device to roam securely across networks - that’s the new norm frictionless solutions enable. Now, healthcare CISOs can pivot strategies toward assurance-based cybersecurity models. Using cloud-native controls, frictionless systems stand vigilant while clinicians focus on quality care. #frictionlessauthentication #healthcarecybersecurity #2024 #zerotrust
