Read these comms tips to boost your fundraising before EOFY: ·     Give your messaging a face and a name. According to a report on donor communications from Campaign Monitor, “58% of donors responded that they’d prefer to hear from an individual person within your nonprofit.” ·     Create clear and simple pathways to action. For example, design your donation page as simple and straightforward as possible. That means using clear and succinct language, and removing distractions such as a header and footer, pop-ups, and links to other resources. ·     Share the impact donations make to your cause. Note: Speak to the outcome, not the financial goal. For example, instead of saying “give $50 to help us hit our target of $1 million,” you could say “donations have helped plant 8,000 trees so far.” At Avion, we write for not-for-profit organisations A LOT. I donate to MSF (among others) and I’m always impressed with the simplicity of the interaction on their website. An observation more broadly on NFPs - I would appreciate the option to opt-out of physical mail drops. Environmentally unsound, they go directly into my recycling bin and generally discourage me from returning. Edit: acknowledging, of course, that the mail drops must be effective or they wouldn’t be deployed! I don’t begrudge the fundraising, only the methodology.
