Read these comms tips to boost your fundraising before EOFY: · Give your messaging a face and a name. According to a report on donor communications from Campaign Monitor, “58% of donors responded that they’d prefer to hear from an individual person within your nonprofit.” · Create clear and simple pathways to action. For example, design your donation page as simple and straightforward as possible. That means using clear and succinct language, and removing distractions such as a header and footer, pop-ups, and links to other resources. · Share the impact donations make to your cause. Note: Speak to the outcome, not the financial goal. For example, instead of saying “give $50 to help us hit our target of $1 million,” you could say “donations have helped plant 8,000 trees so far.” At Avion, we write for not-for-profit organisations A LOT. It’s one of the reasons we open our laptops every day. We also work with the Fundraising Institute Australia to run copywriting essentials courses to help others engage, inspire and motivate donors. If you want a hand to hit your fundraising goal before EOFY, get in touch. In the meantime, check out our article for more tips. #FundraisingComms #DonorComms #NFPComms #WritingFor #NFPs #NonProfit #NotForProfit #SocialEnterprise

First video post 👀 I wonder what I have to say? I hope I get a lot of likes, shares, and reposts.... but not because I'm trying to become a content creator... because I'm fundraising for Best Buddies International / Best Buddies Minnesota and we need all the awareness we can get. We could use more good in the world! Let's see it #Linkedin! Consider watching for 3 minutes (very tolerable time amount of time I'd say) and let me know how it makes you feel below. Twenty $10,000 gifts is MORE than One $100,000 gift. That might seem like an obvious point, but here's why this matters. In the world of major gifts, it's easy to focus on THE ONE GIANT OPPORTUNITY! Some gift officers will close a huge gift and it's all they talk about for the next 30 years of their career. Of course, massive gifts are incredible, but don't forget the power of consistency. Consistently closing gifts over time is much more important that having one random success. If you keep being consistent, the mega gifts will come. #OneVisitAway #nonprofits #philanthropy #MajorGiftMillions

No one likes a surprise unless it’s edible. Do not spring your video project on the board of your nonprofit, and definitely don’t show them an unexpected result. The best way to get buy-in from the board or leadership of your Catholic organization is to prepare them, then follow-through with those plans. ___ Like and follow for more #missiondrivenmarketing tips. 🎥 #video #videoproduction #minnesota #catholic #catholicchurch #reels #communicatio

I promise I'll post about my actual job (we have a new video to share about Mainframe mod and GenAI!) but as summer winds to a close I wanted to share a charity opportunity related to Golf: https://lnkd.in/g2i6mqfG Ultimately this is about helping kids lead healthier lives and is related to the amazing work that Jack and Barbara Nicklaus have done across the world to help kids heal and thrive with their Play Yellow initiative. My Wife Ashley and her colleague Kelli are going to play 72 holes of golf in one day and they are going to make it rain birdies. If you have a bit of a gambling mindset, you can make a donation based on the number of birdies they're going to make. You can also make an up-front donation. Note that this is focused on Colorado - ask your local pro if something is happening near you! Why is this on LinkedIn? Two reasons - first - this is really the only social media I do. I do so little I don't know if this actually counts as social media. Second - having married a professional golfer I've learned a lot about golf that has surprised me. Watching Ashley and her friends and colleagues navigate a male-dominated world (5% of PGA professionals are women. 5%!) is in many ways a clearer lens to the same challenges we see in technology. The backlash we've seen in some pockets of the world against fostering inclusion - one person's opinion here - ignores the reality that a diversity of thought and opinion makes teams better. Here's a golf example - when you're taking a golf lesson, you are incredibly vulnerable and it can be intimidating - no single approach works for everyone. Finding a coach that resonates with you (and this can be especially hard for women coming to the game, or children wanting to learn) is critical to your experience. There is not a long line to draw between this phenomenon and what we see in technology as leaders, mentors and peers. Also, golf is fundamentally a game of integrity - I've seen remarkable examples of leadership and integrity on the course (look up "Sahith Theegala penalty" for an unbelievable example recently) and again it reminds me of all the things we try to do as leaders and professionals in business. I've always liked the phrase "integrity is what happens when no one is looking" and if golf can help me and others to model that, there's more to the game than I thought. Let me close by saying - for those in the Northern Hemisphere - enjoy the last gasps of summer, whatever brings you outside to do so!
On Tuesday, September 24th, I will be participating in the inaugural Colorado PGA Birdie Bash fundraiser event to raise funds for PGA REACH Colorado and Children's Hospital Colorado. I, alongside other Colorado PGA Professionals, will play 72 holes of golf in one day at The Ranch Country Club in an attempt to make as many birdies as possible! Please consider making a pledge per birdie to support these impactful organizations. YOUR GIFT MATTERS and will help us reach our goal of raising $110,000! To make a pledge, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gWWgpdNi

7moI donate to MSF (among others) and I’m always impressed with the simplicity of the interaction on their website. An observation more broadly on NFPs - I would appreciate the option to opt-out of physical mail drops. Environmentally unsound, they go directly into my recycling bin and generally discourage me from returning. Edit: acknowledging, of course, that the mail drops must be effective or they wouldn’t be deployed! I don’t begrudge the fundraising, only the methodology.
