Judge & Priestley is delighted to share that we’ve received the 2023 Greenly | Certified B Corp report, which recognises our commitment to sustainability with a Silver Climate Strategy Rating. This achievement reflects our 2023 carbon assessment data (submitted in 2024, whilst the report was received a few days ago) marking a significant step on our journey towards Net Zero by 2033. A carbon assessment is a critical first step in any climate strategy. It helps organisations identify their primary sources of emissions and lay the groundwork for a targeted, effective action plan to reduce environmental impact. Whilst we celebrate this milestone, we’re already looking ahead. The hard work begins now as we identify areas for improvement to achieve an even higher rating in future assessments. Accelerating decarbonization! ⏩ 🌳 The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has recently announced its plans to revise its Corporate Net-Zero Standard to include guidance on using environmental attribute certificates, like voluntary carbon credits, for Scope 3 emission abatement by companies. This decision acknowledges the role of carbon credits as an additional tool against climate change, given that they're supported by scientifically based standards and policies. This development could give a boost to the voluntary carbon market by encouraging more investments and participation. Also, companies can now meet their net-zero targets more flexibly and credibly by incorporating certified carbon offsets into their sustainability strategies! Here’s a note from “ESG Today”: "The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) announced plans to extend the use of environmental attribute certificates, such as carbon credits, to tackle Scope 3 value chain emissions, in its Corporate Net Zero Standard, used to assess and certify companies’ decarbonization commitments to achieve net zero emissions. The decision could potentially have a significant impact on the markets for carbon credits, extending their use by thousands of companies globally. The SBTi recently reported that the number of companies with validated science-based climate targets more than doubled over the past year, reaching 4,204 at the end of 2023, and announced a major scale-up process aimed at meeting surging demand for corporate decarbonization standards and target validation services." #esg #climate https://lnkd.in/ebT-vwkn

EFRAG, the body behind the evolution of the much talked about European Sustainability Reporting Standards (#ESRS) has recently released its guidance on transition plans for climate change mitigation. Targeted at large companies required to disclose under the EU’s new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (#CSRD) against ESRS, this guidance will be important for in-scope organisations.
