Lesson #23 => 29 Things I learned from a career in consulting. In any business, including consulting, embodying company values isn't just a good practice—it's pivotal to success. Your values should serve as guiding principles that influence how you interact with clients and make decisions. Here's why this matters: Consistently upholding your values builds trust with clients and establishes a reputation for integrity. This trust is foundational for maintaining long-term relationships and achieving successful outcomes for your clients. For the company’s values to be authentic, they need to come from within your team, not imposed by management. Every employee's perspective contributes to shaping these values. It's crucial for leadership to listen to what their team values to foster a culture of inclusivity and respect diverse viewpoints. Remember, company values should also evolve over time to adapt to the changing business landscape, new challenges, and opportunities. This evolution is not about inconsistency but rather reflects your ability to stay relevant to your employees while staying true to your core beliefs. By prioritizing your values and empowering your team to embody them daily, you not only navigate the complexities of consulting but also differentiate yourself with integrity and purpose. #companyvalues #consulting #consultingservices #consultinglife #consultingengineers #projectmanagement #29ThingsIlearnedfromacareerinconsulting

As previous post, organizations often fail to implement a service strategy effectively due to a combination of internal and external challenges. Below are some of the common reasons for failure: Why Organizations Fail to Implement Service Strategy 1. Lack of Alignment with Business Goals IT services don’t align with organizational priorities, reducing value. 2. Insufficient Stakeholder Engagement Failure to involve business leaders and users results in poor buy-in. 3. Weak Leadership Support Without executive backing, the strategy lacks funding and visibility. 4. Poor Communication Unclear messaging leads to misunderstanding and resistance. 5. Overly Complex Plans Ambitious, unmanageable strategies cause confusion and delays. 6. No Measurable Goals Without clear metrics, progress and success are hard to track. 7. Resistance to Change Employees stick to old processes, slowing adoption. 8. Inadequate Resources Insufficient budget, time, or skills hinder execution. 9. Ignoring Culture Strategies that clash with organizational norms face resistance. 10. Lack of Continuous Improvement Treating strategy as one-time instead of ongoing makes it obsolete.
