The private space sector is important. In this day and age, the private space industry is extremely important! We can't rely on the efforts of the government, because they are mired in politics and bureaucracy. Therefore, it is difficult for the government sector to accomplish anything like the private sector (especially the small and medium enterprises). The competition of the private sector will develop breakthrough technologies and grow through competitive efforts. Let the agencies keep up with satellite technology and related space science, and leave the use of space assets and human flight to the private sector.
