I was reflecting (this morning in the shower, not that you asked), that when LoCo Think Tank started, we were kinda the only game in town, at least in our niche of small to medium size #business owner members (at the time) in or near #fortcollins. There was a #vistage group or two, and #TAB had a local #board established but wasn't very active, and there were a few members of #EO that went down to Denver for their #peeradvisory every month, and several of what I called #homebrew groups, where someone volunteered to organize the group and it was a free - but invite only - kind of organization. At one point, I think LoCo Think Tank #chapter members comprised almost half the paid peer advisory memberships in our region - although we were very affordable compared to the others. Since then, we've seen a large rise in Christian-focused groups, such as #C12, and #kingdomway and #thefoundry - at least here locally. I've been a Christian this whole time - fairly publicly through my blog - but my faith is baked into our principles and values, and not into our content or branding at LoCo. For me - I think it's better for those of all faiths and perspectives to meet and talk with those from other perspectives, especially in a community/business setting. And - actually diverse chapters of business leaders goes a long way toward tearing down some of the silo walls that #socialmedia and #mainstreammedia of all kinds tends to create - because #algorythims. I spent the afternoon and evening yesterday with one of my oldest friends and longest term members - with whom I almost always disagree on politics and religion - and - we love one another. And - I took the big Honda up Fall River Road with him on his dual sport! So, whether you love Jesus, and strive to follow his #goldenrule of treating others as yourself, or you think that's kinda cheesy, but sounds nice - you might jive with a LoCo chapter. We look for those who can add flavor to the sauce, experience to the conversation, those who are motivated to change themselves and change their business for the betterment of all stakeholders, those who will be smart, be kind, be true, be local, be the change, and be you! We're not for everyone - but we do tear down down silos and barriers - in our community and in your business. Look me up if that sounds appealing - after the election is fine. :o) (written by me, without assistance from AI - obvs) 😁

TEN CONTROVERSIAL MOMENTS IN OUR SHOW Brigit Douglas's post is lovely, and my co-presenter entrepreneur friends are the bee's knees (what do they look like?). Jenn Crowther and Ian Farrar turn a grey-bearded, long-haired ancient philosopher's riches to rags story into a spectacular myth-busting, values-based journey of know-how and know-who discovery. The "Be More Happipreneur" Show is for all enterprising people, whether employed or self-employed, and all those who support enterprising people. It's a joyous, celebratory, informative, fun and interactive show with controversial moments. Here are ten controversial moments. Find out WHY: 1. We prefer to surround ourselves with family and a few great friends rather than many successful people. 2. Making ends meet, avoiding debt, and ensuring business survival are more important than funding or striving to achieve big dreams and business growth. 3. The "millionaire mindset" usually leads to debt and depression. 4. Being a happipreneur (happy at work 80%+ of the time) is fulfilling, useful, energising and fabulous for your communities. 5. Only 10% of #startups in Silicon Valley survive the first 3 years of trading when an 80%+ survival rate is easily achievable. 6. No successful entrepreneur has done it on their own. 7. Most successful entrepreneurs do not adopt a #scaleup programme. 8. There is one skill that most successful entrepreneurs never delegate. 9. Happipreneurship is a philosophy which has been proven over thousands of years. 10. Kanya King CBE is my inspiration, and Tim Campbell wrote the introduction to "The Happipreneur", but Charles Dickens is probably the greatest happipreneur of all time (the GHOAT). Book It (Oct. 2024 to Oct 2025) or Be Sad 😎
Calling all you lovely self-employed, enterprising people. This man is a lighthouse, shining brightly for individuals like you. Tony Robinson OBE holds the floor at venues ranging from a local pub to the university lectern. There is so much to learn from him while his intelligence and charisma crackle! Plus, there is *never* a dull moment when he's on the mic. Tony has fought for the underserved in business for decades, providing a practical philosophy in Happipreneurship and embodying true kindness. He boldly told the nation that #MicroBizMatters... And now, it's his final ever speaking tour. It was lots of fun and a real honour to create Tony's last speaking engagement menu. Don't miss out — take a look and book ASAP if you want to experience his rallying cry in a place near you. Such a great podcast for ALL leaders out there (not just CMOs)! I met Mike Linton years ago at Kip Knight's CMO Bootcamp (HIGHLY recommend if you are in this space) and have been impressed ever since! A few key take-aways: - There needs to be better alignment with CEOs and CMOs on success metrics and expectations - in the conversation here they mentioned that there were over 90+ different answers in their research on success metrics that CMOs gave (don't quote me on the exact number, but it was something outrageous like this). - Business Schools - how do we ensure that we are not just focusing on teaching tactics, but also more strategic topics. Would love your take on this topic Sridhar Sundaram and Henrik Cronqvist. - How valuable it is for CMOs to have a good relationship with their CFOs. Daniel Sohn, CPA, CVA - this made me think of the work we did with our "Frenemies to Hunting Partners - The Value of CMOs and CFOs working together" project. We need to revisit that! - Marketers need to do a better job marketing ourselves within our organizations. We do a good job promoting ourselves amongst our peers, but there needs to be better education across departments / divisions on our value. Great conversation Mike Linton with Robert Tas and Nick Primola on both of these episodes!
"Marketing - The Battle Between Believers & Non-Believers - Part 2" A CMO Confidential Interview with McKinsey Marketing & Sales Partner Robert Tas and Nick Primola, EVP and Head of the CMO Practice at the ANA. We discuss their recent study and Wall Street Journal article showing that CEO's who have marketing at the center of their strategy have measurably better results. They discuss the 3 types of CEO's including "non-believers" and why so many still exist, the dangers of running marketing as a cost center, and the tremendous variability of the CMO role. Key topics include: the biggest areas of misalignment; the need to connect to financial outcomes; how marketing needs to "claw it's way back;" and their belief that it is "Ludicrous to think the CMO role is going away."
