Advice for Aspiring Contract Administrators As a former CA with over 20 years of experience recruiting talent in the field, I'm often approached by Contract Administrators seeking not just job opportunities but valuable insights for their careers. Here are key points to focus on: Start at the Right Builder: Avoid the common pitfall of chasing high salaries early on. Join a reputable company known for developing talent through robust training programs and exceptional mentorship. Embrace Site Experience: Spend as much time on-site as possible. It's crucial for gaining practical build ability experience and understanding the project's nuances. Communication is Key: The best CAs excel in both written and verbal communication. Build strong relationships with subcontractors and stakeholders through integrity and consistent delivery, earning their respect along the way. Understand the Build Process: Commercial and contractual acumen are essential, but your ability to impact project timelines and planning hinges on a solid understanding of the build process. This knowledge enhances your communication and relationship-building efforts. Focus on these fundamentals, and you'll not only thrive as a Contract Administrator but also contribute significantly to your projects' success! #ContractAdministration #CareerAdvice #ConstructionManagement #ProfessionalDevelopment #Mentorship Jordan Daniel Kelly Horsfield Samuel Chambers Blake Enever Luke Mitchell Nell Harris

When it comes to hiring a Contract Administrator in the construction industry, hiring managers often turn to the opinion of sub-contractors who have worked with the CA before. The feedback they receive usually falls into three categories: a solid operator who is fair and pragmatic, a CA who is too easy to work with and the sub-contractor can easily get their way, or a rigid individual who is difficult to deal with. If you fall into the latter two categories, it's time to take a closer look at your approach. Being a pushover is just as bad as being a tyrant. Our clients are looking for CA's who are pragmatic, well-rounded, and have solid construction knowledge. They want individuals who think big picture and forge mutually beneficial sub-contractor relationships. If you are a CA who is a solid operator, the Timbyr app has many opportunities with builders who embrace the way you work. Curious about a career in construction claims? As an experienced recruiter in this sector, I often get asked the following questions by QS's and Planners who are interested in working within this field: How does progression within construction claims typically look? What are the typical salaries within construction claims? Is it possible to work remotely or in a hybrid? What are the typical working hours in construction claims? What does the career pathway into claims entail? What steps should be taken to transition to full-time claims and delay work? Is an MSc in Construction Law & Dispute Resolution a prerequisite before working for a claims consultancy? What is involved in pursuing a career path into expert witness? If any of these questions resonate with you, I'm here to offer guidance and insights. Let's connect and explore how a career in construction claims can be both rewarding and fulfilling. #ConstructionClaims #CareerAdvice #ExpertInsights

Hiring a Quantity Surveyor is a game changing investment! I speak with many Commercial Managers/Directors who are stretched thin and pleading with business owners to bring on more QS's, but the answer is often the same: “We don’t have the budget right now.” Many don’t realise that hiring a QS isn't just a cost, it’s an investment in boosting profit and improving that "budget" they’re trying to save! A QS SHOULD pay for themselves. Agree? clearnorth.

This is one that I get asked about all the time, the difference between an Owners Rep, a Construction Manager and a General Contractor. John gives a very clear answer on the differences. The Concord Group #ownersrep #constructionconsulting
