The current economic situation has drastically increased the demand for charitable services. Last month, a StatsCan report found that over 46% of organizations reported increased demand for services/products in 2023, but only 24% reported that their overall capacity to meet demand had increased. Now more than ever, the sector is in dire need of support. But Canadians are feeling the pinch financially, and many don’t have excess money to donate. Luckily, monetary donations aren’t the only way to support charitable causes. Volunteers are vital to the success of non-profit organizations and their ability to successfully serve their communities. This week marks National Volunteer Week, an initiative to recognize and celebrate every volunteer and each contribution they make. Time is precious, but when finances are tight, it’s one simple way that we can make a difference. I’m currently exploring volunteer opportunities with non-profit boards and committees that need marketing expertise.
