As part of the UK Government’s 2023 Autumn Statement, they have released five key missions that provide more specific goals as a follow-on to the March 2023 release of the UK’s National Quantum Strategy. The Quantum Computing and Simulation (QCS) Hub has launched a major new public dialogue exercise, aimed at understanding public perceptions of quantum computing across the UK. A public dialogue activity exploring views about quantum technologies was last conducted in 2017. The QCS Hub, working with the Responsible Technology Institute, has now commissioned Verian, an independent research company, to carry out a public dialogue exploring public attitudes to quantum computing. Syahida Othman from CNA interviewed our Chief Scientist Dr Si-Hui Tan at #ATxSummit, where the Singapore government announced investing 300M SGD (222M USD) in quantum technologies over the next 5 years. For Dr Tan, quantum computing is at an inflexion point: 🔵 we're getting to very large quantum systems with thousands of qubits 🔵 we are seeing an improvement in error-correcting codes that have a much lower overhead in terms of resources needed to implement them These are milestones in getting us to quantum computers that can perform the applications we are interested in. https://lnkd.in/g2CpkrwM
