Amidst the festive celebrations, I almost forgot to acknowledge one of the most important days—World Mental Health Day. In 2019, during the first lockdown, I experienced my first anxiety attack. It was triggered by the constant pressure from my parents, "Nothing is happening, you're not even getting married." That’s when I truly understood how overwhelming and dangerous anxiety can be. A second breakdown happened during the 2021 lockdown, under similar circumstances. By then, I had already started working on Hindustani Tongue and building healthier mental habits, though my parents didn’t know. I couldn’t tell them either—they wouldn’t appreciate or accept it. My role has always been to make everyone around me happy, and to this day, I’m doing that. If I need to hide something for their happiness, I do it because I know they won’t understand, and the environment will change. I promised myself to keep my parents, my partner, his parents—everyone around me—happy until the end, and I’m not complaining about it. But sometimes, even after doing everything, it still feels like I can’t make them happy. The response "I don't feel like talking" hurts deeply. It makes me question, why am I doing all this? Let them take care of themselves. Yet, it's all about balance—cherishing the good memories and ignoring the bad days. I believe everyone loves me back in their own way. Remember, it’s okay to speak your truth. Be faithful to yourself, and everything else will fall into place. They’re your family—one day, they’ll understand you. #MentalHealthMatters #WorldMentalHealthDay #AnxietyAwareness #EmotionalWellness #BalanceAndBoundaries #SelfCareJourney #MentalHealthSupport

While this time of year can bring joy, it can also be challenging for many. Let’s remember: 🌟 It’s okay not to feel okay. If you’re struggling, know you’re not alone. Holidays can bring up memories, stress, or feelings of loneliness, and it’s valid to acknowledge those emotions. 🌟 Self-care is not selfish. Take moments to breathe, rest, and prioritize your mental well-being. Walking, journaling, or talking to a trusted friend can make a big difference. 🌟 Be kind, always. You never know what someone might be going through. A small gesture of kindness—whether a smile, a thoughtful text, or lending an ear—can brighten someone’s day. 🌟 Seek support if you need it. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength. Whether confiding in loved ones or seeking professional support, taking that step matters. The Holiday Season and Mental Health: A Reminder to Care for Yourself The festive season is often portrayed as a time of joy, laughter, and togetherness, but the reality can be very different for many people. Christmas can amplify the pressures we face balancing work, family, and the expectations we place on ourselves. It’s easy to get caught up in preparations and forget to prioritise the most important thing: YOU. Managing mental health during this time can be incredibly tough. If you're feeling overwhelmed, remind yourself that it's okay not to feel jolly and merry on demand. Real life doesn’t always match the picture perfect version of the holidays we see. Allow yourself the space to feel what you feel and know that you're not alone. Take time for yourself. Manage your time effectively, but don’t put pressure on yourself to do it all. Whether it’s taking a quiet moment, saying no to an event, or asking for help, putting yourself first isn’t selfish, IT'S NECESSARY. Most importantly, if you need to talk, reach out. There’s always someone ready to listen, no matter the time of year. Here are some mental health support lines you can contact for confidential help: Samaritans: Call 116 123 Mind: 0300 123 3393 or text 86463 Shout: Text 85258 Rethink Mental Illness: 0808 801 0525 Young Minds: Text YM to 85258 (for under 25s) Remember, you don’t have to face this season alone. Take care of yourself—you matter. 💙 #MentalHealthAwareness #ChristmasSupport #ItIsOkayToNotBeOkay #TalkIfYouNeedTo #HolidayWellbeing #MentalHealthMatters #BeKindToYourMind
