It was a privilege to host Douglas Hickey, the US Ambassador to Finland, alongside my colleagues at the Consulate General of Finland in New York during his visit here last week! Together with Business Finland North America, we discussed the significant potential of Finland-US partnerships in shaping global change. Here are some insights for Finnish companies: 🌐 NATO is not only a defense contract but a commercial one. Just think about NATO's business accelerator to be established in Otaniemi Espoo and Finland's strengths in dual-use technology. 🌐 Finnish companies must be careful about who they take as investors in the current geopolitical situation, to be able to raise money from US-based investors. 🌐 Finnish quantum companies and food tech startups are gaining momentum right now and have great potential to expand and export to the US. 🌐 There should be even more emphasis on institutional investments in Finland. How can we move startups from the seed phase to Series A and B in Finland without always relying on non-Finnish investors to get them over the "valley of death"? 🌐 There is an abundance of talent and exceptional companies in Finland, yet our challenge is our lack of vocalization. Finnish companies need to amplify their voices to attract the attention of investors abroad. Thank you, U.S. Embassy in Finland, for your collaboration and insights!

🌍 Why is this page about international cooperation mostly in Dutch? And what does “Buiten de Bubbel” even mean?! Buiten de Bubbel is all about bridging gaps and bringing the outside world closer to the Netherlands and our fellow dutchies. Our mission? To showcase the incredible opportunities and innovations that exist beyond our borders and beyond our own respective bubbles—hence the name, which roughly translates to “Beyond the Bubble.” Living in the Netherlands, we’ve observed a number of misconceptions about Africa and other regions in the world, which can be quite frustrating. These misunderstandings often stem from the bubbles we all live in — if our friends, family, and neighbours believe something to be true, it must be true right? Yet, whenever I share the incredible developments and opportunities I’ve witnessed in places like India, Ethiopia, or Mozambique, it ignites enthusiasm and transforms people’s perceptions about the world! The key is speaking in the same language. —both literally (in Dutch, which is why this page is primarily in Dutch) and figuratively. What unites us? Where do our interests intersect? It’s thrilling to discover new places and ideas that you may have never heard of before! Basically we provide an exciting travel story while also exploring the incredible innovations in the countries we cross. It’s our personal effort to get rid of those negative misconceptions, but we will need your help to do so. 🤝 Through Buiten de Bubbel we’ll document inspiring organizations, projects, businesses, and initiatives as we journey from the Netherlands to Mozambique. Many of these stories will feature links to the Netherlands to resonate with our Dutch audience, but that’s not a requirement. Some initiatives may be founded, funded, or supported by Dutch entities, while others may be completely unfamiliar with our tiny country in Europe. We will strive to balance these narratives to highlight local initiatives and entrepreneurship. Are you along our route and want to showcase your activities to a wider Dutch audience? Or do you have recommendations for must-see people or projects along the way? Let’s connect and break those bubbles together! 💦✨ Send us an email on: info@buitendebubbel.nl and perhaps we will see you soon. 🚙

Summary of My Presentation at Forbes Ukraine CEO Summit At the CEO Summit 2024 by Forbes Ukraine, we discussed a powerful tool that can help Ukrainian businesses grow stronger: international expansion. Today, it’s essential not only to survive but to thrive, and establishing foreign offices is a key way to achieve this. In my presentation, I shared a legal “recipe” for companies to improve their financial health and create added opportunities for employees. We reviewed practical cases proving that opening offices in stable economies enables companies to earn revenue abroad and channel it back to Ukraine, thereby strengthening our economy. Our experience with new branches in Warsaw, London, and New York shows how international offices can expand a company’s boundaries and diversify risks. The CEO Summit reaffirmed that Ukraine has resilient entrepreneurs ready for global growth! #ForbesUkraine #CEOSummit2024 #міжнароднийбізнес #юридичнийрецепт #AndriiPrykhodko #глобальніможливості

International business forums offer Ukrainian companies valuable opportunities for growth, integration into the global economy, and establishing connections with potential partners and investors. Participating in such events becomes a strategically important step for businesses seeking to expand their operations abroad. Ukrainian companies can expect powerful networking opportunities at business forums. Events like the Kyiv International Economic Forum (KIEF) Kyiv International Economic Forum bring together businesses, government, and civil society representatives worldwide. These are venues where strategic partners can be found, other companies' experiences explored, and long-term connections established to help expand businesses and strengthen their positions in the international market. In addition to networking, Ukrainian entrepreneurs gain access to new knowledge. International forums provide a unique opportunity to learn about current global trends, technological innovations, and best practices that can help companies adapt to changes in the business environment. For example, the "Business Without Paper" forum highlights successful cases of business digitalization that can inspire ideas for your projects and initiatives. Moreover, Ukrainian companies can look forward to discovering new opportunities for attracting investments. A forum serves as a platform where investors seek promising companies for collaboration, which is particularly relevant for Ukrainian businesses aiming to secure funding for development amidst economic challenges. Ukrainian companies must prepare for each forum in advance to succeed at such events. Researching the program and critical speakers will help plan time effectively, while a clear presentation of the company and its offerings will increase the chances of attracting partner interest. Business cards and prepared marketing materials will enable company representatives to leave a strong impression and build a positive brand image. International business forums are places for exchanging experiences and opportunities for Ukrainian companies to find partners, attract investments, and expand their businesses beyond Ukraine. 7moMy experience with Finnish companies over the last decade is that the tech is not just world class, but world-leading. Finnish companies are punching way above their weight in tech innovation. They are less accomplished at talking about how great they are. Kind of the opposite of what we see here with a lot of US startups...
