University of Groningen’s Post

'Because the world’s energy sources are limited and it is becoming increasingly difficult to make computer chips smaller, we need to build our computers differently.' Beatriz Noheda, Niels Taatgen and Erika Covi are working for the Groningen Cognitive Systems and Materials Center (CogniGron, University of Groningen (FSE) of the UG. Together with researchers in material science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, and computer science from all over the world, they are joining forces to educate a new generation of scientists and develop a computer chip that is 10,000 times more energy-efficient than current computers. CogniGron is at the forefront of this revolution, focusing on neuromorphic computing.
