The area around Tokyo Station is rapidly transforming. Here's a map highlighting the upcoming office developments in the Yaesu and Nihonbashi districts, adjacent to Tokyo Station. These projects are in various stages of progress, including the highly anticipated Tokyo Torch Tower, which will become the tallest building in Japan and one of the largest office towers in the world by gross floor area (GFA).
In June 2022, the Metropolitan Expressway Company announced plans to build a 1.1 km underground tunnel and remove the elevated expressway by 2041. This move will revitalize the riverfront, once a thriving commercial hub dating back to the 1600s, and unveil historically significant bridges, including the iconic Nihonbashi Bridge. Several of these projects include smaller riverfront buildings that will feature shops, cafes, and restaurants, creating a new attraction for workers and tourists alike.
To give some perspective, the seven upcoming projects have a combined floor area of approximately 2.2 million square meters (23.5 million square feet).

大規模再開発Large-scale redevelopment projects are taking place all over Japan.
Tokyo is particularly active in redevelopment, with Shibuya 渋谷undergoing a large-scale development project that is said to be a once-in-a-century event100年に一度.
The same once-in-a-century redevelopment project is also reaching its climax in Umeda梅田, Osaka.
The Gran Green Osaka is scheduled to open in September on the north side of JR Osaka Station. Furthermore, large complex buildings will be completed one after another in the northern Osaka area.
The city aims to revive and improve the status of the international city of "Greater Osaka" by increasing its appeal in a wide range of areas, including business, commerce, culture, and entertainment.
Coupled with the Osaka World Expo being held in 2025, a redevelopment project is underway in Osaka that rivals that of Tokyo, and Osaka is now a promising metropolis as an investment destination.

Flying cars in Tsukiji Fish Market???? 😅
😎 The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced on Friday that a consortium led by Mitsui Fudosan has been selected to revitalize the former site of the Tsukiji fish market. This sprawling 20-hectare area, left vacant since the relocation of the fish market to Toyosu in 2018, is set to undergo a remarkable transformation.
The centerpiece of the redevelopment project is a state-of-the-art multipurpose stadium with a seating capacity of 50,000. This all-weather venue will host a wide range of events and activities, alongside commercial spaces, offices, hotels, and residential buildings.
One exciting feature of the redevelopment plan is a food-themed area in collaboration with the nearby Tsukiji outer market. This culinary hotspot will showcase the area's rich food culture to visitors from around the world. 🍱
Moreover, the project includes facilities for exhibitions, an innovation center for life sciences, and a waterfront hall with a capacity of 1,200 people. Plans also encompass the development of a transportation hub, complete with access points for buses, self-driving cars, ferries, and even flying cars.
💰 This transformative project is slated for completion by fiscal 2038, with an estimated total cost of approximately 900 billion yen ($5.8 billion). Stay tuned for more updates as Tokyo embarks on this exciting journey of urban renewal!
We can't wait to see the new market with the brilliant visions come true.

🇯🇵 Shibuya Crossing, located in the heart of Tokyo, is one of the most iconic and busiest intersections in the world and a symbol of the vibrant and fast-paced life of Tokyo. What makes Shibuya Crossing unique is the sheer volume of people who traverse it with every light change. At peak times, thousands of pedestrians cross from all directions in a perfectly orchestrated chaos. This scramble crossing, where traffic lights stop vehicles in all directions, allows pedestrians to cross simultaneously. The sight of such a massive flow of humanity is both mesmerizing and emblematic of Tokyo’s energy and dynamism.
Surrounding the crossing are giant video screens, neon lights, and towering buildings housing popular retail stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues. This vibrant atmosphere makes Shibuya Crossing a popular spot for shopping, dining, and nightlife. Shibuya Crossing has also been immortalized in numerous films, music videos, and television shows, further cementing its status as a global cultural icon.
It’s a place where tradition meets modernity, and where the hustle and bustle of everyday life converge in a spectacular display of urban living. Visiting Shibuya Crossing provides a unique glimpse into the pulse of Tokyo. Whether you’re standing on the sidelines, watching the throngs of people move in unison, or you’re part of the crowd making your way through the intersection, the experience is unforgettable. It’s a testament to the city’s ability to blend order and chaos, creating a truly unique urban spectacle.
Did you know that 37 million people live in the Greater Tokyo Area? That’s nearly equivalent to the entire population of Canada. Remarkably, you won’t find a single orange cone, a damaged sidewalk, litter, or even a rough patch on the streets.

Really?
🎶This is the crowd at Plaza Singapura (a popular mall in Singapore) last Sunday when K-pop group Aespa was in town for their fan sign event.
🎤The mall was packed like sardines over 6 floors. Fans went gaga at the sight of their fav idols.
Spill-over effects?
🛒Well, mall tenants especially F&B establishments are likely to benefit from the surge in mall visitors.
💰Ka-ching!!!
💲While it’s not every Sunday that malls host events like this, but when they do, they could help increase footfall and hopefully revenue for tenants.
📆As long as malls have a strategic, well-planned activity calendar to pull in the crowd, whether it’s fansign events, curated art exhibition, mall/tenant collab etc, I believe there’s light at the end of the tunnel for malls in Singapore.
⭐️Give shoppers (locals or tourists) more reasons to visit. No - I’m not talking about more podium sales events.
🌈Definitely not all gloom and doom for malls.
