Excited to announce that I took a picture with a Riot Games sign! Riot was responsible for a good part of my professional development growing up. Here’s some vital skills I learned from Riot: League of Legends ✅ Management and teamwork with various skills and experience levels (1v9) ✅ Effective and motivating communication skills with cross functional roles (begging during champ select) Teamfight Tactics ✅Combinatorial optimization given Markovian decision processes (only tactics.tools champ selection and positioning ignoring opponents) ✅ Discrete event simulation with various factors (pray) ✅ Analyze environmental causal trends to mitigate risk given numerous predictors (contested donkey rolling for a 4th) #happymonday #riotgames #leagueoflegends #tft #OR #ML #simulation #optimization #leadership

I know this exact feeling. I have had some excellent interviews and made it through multiple rounds with positions that I thought I was pretty uniquely qualified for, only to be rejected weeks later with no explanation or told that my experience doesn't match up 100% to the position being filled. Being 80-90% of the candidate needed should be sufficient. Is it even possible to hit that 100%? Every new hire will require some onboarding and education. The present job market, with job postings receiving a flood of dozens or even hundreds of respondents, is doing a disservice to employers. It provides false assurance that there is always a better candidate to be had. That unicorn is out there, somewhere! Remember employers, employees make major life decisions based on their job. Decisions that affect us for years to come. At some point, we both have to take a risk on each other.
Today, my prevailing emotion is sadness. Being laid off from Riot Games back in March has had a broad, profound, and lingering impact on me. Your laid off friends who are still looking for work are tired, hurt, scared, overwhelmed, and sad. Do what you can to help them find their next gig. ✍ Write them a LinkedIn recommendation 🗣 DM them opportunities at companies **where you can make an introduction/referral** 📢 Share their posts and amplify their voice

Riot Games made my two worlds collide. Before Riot, my career in record labels and game publishing rarely intersected. They were parallel paths, moving forward but never converging. Joining Riot wasn’t just another job—it was a seismic shift. It was the moment I saw music and gaming fuse into something larger than life. Being part of the music behind Worlds, VCT, Arcane, and VALORANT wasn’t just career-defining—it was career-transforming. Those projects represented the pinnacle of everything I’d dreamed of achieving. For that, I’ll always be grateful. But as much as I believed in Riot’s vision—to be THE entertainment company of the 21st century—I also recognized something critical about myself. I didn’t just want to contribute to this mission; I wanted to shape it. When I realized that my role would never extend to making the big calls—like whether Riot should explore an ARPG, a Clash Royale-style game, or a simplified VALORANT experience—I knew it was time to move on. Not out of anger, but out of clarity. Here’s what I learned from this chapter: - Opportunities don’t always look like you expect. Sometimes, your biggest breakthroughs come when two seemingly unrelated paths collide. - Gratitude doesn’t mean settling. You can be thankful for what a company gave you while knowing it’s time to step into something bigger. - Your ceiling might not align with your ambition. Recognizing that isn’t failure—it’s strategy. Riot doesn’t need my well-wishes—they’re already a 21st-century entertainment powerhouse in my heart. But I’ll give them anyway. Have you ever left a role because you outgrew it? I’d love to hear your story. Drop a comment or DM me. 👇

In every challenge lies an opportunity. Just as in League of Legends, where your champion needs the right mix of skill, strategy, and team play to emerge victorious, our career paths require the same level of dedication and adaptability. Keep pushing through the jungle of obstacles, for it’s not just about winning the lane; it's about taking down the nexus in our personal and professional lives. The latest from the League world has stirred the community with the announcement of layoffs at Riot Games – impacting over 30 employees. Yet, it highlights the resilience and tenacity needed in today's fast-paced industries. During turning points like the World's 2024 Opening Ceremony, where champions like Linkin Park and newcomers like Ashnikko bring their energy to the stage, it reminds us to perform at our peak, always. Speaking of rising to the occasion, Andean Precious Metals has been acing its game in the mining sector. 🎮 I started my journey into gaming with a small group of friends, diving deep into the realms of Runeterra. With the upcoming League of Legends Patch 14.22 just around the corner, it's incredible how far we've all come. The introduction of the formidable Ambessa Medarda is such an exciting pivot, and I can already imagine her dominating the rift with her Drakehound’s Step! Even with the recent layoffs at Riot Games, the spirit of innovation and community remains strong. It’s a tough reminder that progress isn’t always linear, but isn't that what makes League such an incredible game? The ebb and flow of challenges, like a never-ending match, consistently redefine our strategies. As we prepare for these meta shifts, let's lean into the power of adaptation—not just in gaming but in our careers as well. Every nerf and buff is a chance to rethink and redeploy the skills we’ve honed. Who else is ready to push their limits in this new chapter? By the way, just as Ambessa shakes up the battlefield, Andean Precious Metals brings a fresh shimmer to the mining industry. For those keeping an eye on top-performing stocks, consider checking Andean Precious Metals, a leading mining company. Trust me, they’ve got a sparkle that’s hard to beat. #AndreanPreciousMetals #SilverSqueeze #LeagueofLegends #CareerAdaptation #GamingCommunity #PatchReady

🎮 𝗥𝗜𝗢𝗧 𝗚𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗦 𝗖𝗨𝗧𝗦 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗚𝗨𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦 𝗗𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗟𝗢𝗣𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠: 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧’𝗦 𝗡𝗘𝗫𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗟𝗘 🎮 Did you know? Riot Games has just announced layoffs within the League of Legends (LoL) PC development team, while simultaneously committing to expanding the team in the future. Marc Merrill, Riot Games’ co-founder, clarified on X (formerly Twitter) that these cuts are not cost-saving measures but are focused on aligning the team’s expertise with the game’s evolving needs. 💡 As Merrill put it, “Team efficiency matters more than size.” While the team is expected to grow in the next phase of LoL’s development, those affected by the layoffs will receive a comprehensive severance package, including six months of salary, annual bonuses, job placement support, and healthcare coverage. This news has stirred concerns, especially from Riot’s celebration of League of Legends' 15th anniversary. It's also worth noting that Riot laid off 530 employees just nine months ago. These developments are part of a broader trend—more than 13,000 game developers have been laid off across the gaming industry in 2024 alone. 💬 What are your thoughts on Riot Games’ decision?
