It's that time of year again! Looking for a charitable giving opportunity this holiday season? Consider making a donation to the Foundation for Shared Impact (FSI) Annual Holiday Fundraiser. Many people know about our shared impact community in Hong Kong. But did you know that we also have community members across Asia and Africa? Every year we ask these colleagues to submit project ideas aimed at supporting the underprivileged in their local communities. This year we have identified projects in the Philippines, Kenya, Egypt, and Indonesia. All projects will be overseen by our team members on the ground, so you can rest assured that every cent will go toward the project deliverables. The more we raise the more of these types of projects we can implement, so please consider making a small contribution. We recently conducted a parent survey which found that 78% feel unable to access public parks due to fear of judgement, sensory concerns, and challenging behaviours.    We aim to change this. Every young person has an equal right to play, so we’ve launched a project to open Aberdeen’s first free outdoor sensory playpark. The impact STAND is having is great.

At the end of last year I wrote that we were going to give 1% of our turnover (not profit) for the year to organisations that reflect a world we want to strive for. It took us a few weeks to sort ourselves out and figure out our priorities, but we've now 1) donated to some of those organisations 2) made a spreadsheet public, both to keep a log for ourselves and to keep us accountable to the people around us. I said to Eliot Fineberg one day last year that I didn't think we could call ourselves things like 'equitable' or 'inclusive', you have to behave in that way and allow others to make up their own minds (ht The New Forest Off Road Club). So this is a log of some of our actions and beliefs. Our company is a vehicle for a prototype of a world we want to live in, so we've given some money to some of the sorts of organisations that contribute to that world, too. Anyway. State of the Sector Survey 2024 This survey explores how charity leaders and the people and communities they serve, view, and experience the sector today. HELPING POOR AND HUNGRY PEOPLE 🙏 Helping poor and hungry people can be approached in various ways, depending on the resources and skills available to you. Here are a few effective strategies: 1. **Direct Assistance:** Donate food, clothing, or other essentials to local shelters, food banks, or community organizations. 2. **Volunteering:** Offer your time at local charities, soup kitchens, or community outreach programs. 3. **Fundraising:** Organize or participate in fundraising events to support organizations that provide food and resources to those in need. 4. **Advocacy:** Raise awareness about poverty and hunger issues to encourage policy changes and support for systemic solutions. 5. **Skill Sharing:** Provide training or educational resources that can help individuals improve their job prospects or financial literacy. Each effort, big or small, can contribute to making a positive difference in addressing poverty and hunger.
