Constructing a sustainable building in a cold climate used to mean less windows. But what if it doesn’t have to be that way? At Concordia University of Edmonton, a new project is emerging from Reimagine, centered on the fusion of high-performance vacuum insulated glazing with fibreglass framed curtain walls. We've all seen the recent photos of the historic #flooding caused by Hurricane Helene and Milton which emphasize how much our communities and customers need better water infrastructure solutions. 🌿 Showcasing the Deba River Restoration Project  🌊 We present the Deba River Restoration case study, a concrete example demonstrating that nature restoration is achievable, and that in Europe, efforts are already well underway. The aim of this initiative is to reconnect fragmented rivers and restore free-flowing habitats. To date, four out of the ten targeted dams have already been removed, significantly improving the ecosystem. The project has also succeeded in raising awareness within the community about the importance of these habitat enhancements. This case study is part of the MERLIN project, funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020, which focuses on integrating the ecological restoration of freshwater ecosystems into a broader landscape context through innovation, upscaling, and transformation.
