I remember the joy on my face when I retired from the federal government after serving a wonderful 23 year career. I also remember the excitement and nervousness on my face when I started my business as a security consultant. What I did realize while building my company is that no one is going to come knocking down the doors as I imagined inquiring about my services. I have to keep working hard and keep the faith because faith is like WiFi. It’s invisible but has the power to connect you to what you need. As a security consultant, I understand that organizations may be cautious about hiring security consultants because they might perceive it as questioning the capabilities of their in-house security directors. It could also be due to concerns about confidentiality, cost, or a belief that their internal team has sufficient expertise. However, bringing in external consultants can provide fresh perspectives, specialized knowledge, and help validate or enhance existing security measures. Furthermore, by leveraging the expertise of security consultants, organizations can better identify and mitigate potential security risks, reducing the likelihood of costly security breaches or incidents. Overall, hiring security consultants can complement the efforts of internal security teams and enhance the organization's overall security posture.
