"Stories to Code" (two weeks from now) is a practical hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to create software using a domain-focused approach based on our users’ stories (not a "user story," which has been perverted into a synonym for a Jira ticket. We work from the user's story--a description of their work and problems, not ours). You’ll learn how to capture, refine, and split stories, manage the work those stories define (including backlog management), leverage the stories to create a domain-focused architecture, and most critically, turn that into code using "Design by Coding." You'll come away with a complete process for building a solid product your customers will love. "Incremental Architecture" (three weeks from now) addresses the problem that agility is impossible if your architecture makes even trivial changes insanely difficult. Big-up-front architectural designs don't work--they're too complex and too hard to extend. As Gall’s Law states: A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked." Learn how to start simple and incrementally build an easy-to-maintain and easy-to-extend architecture as you learn. Along the way you'll learn about building architecture from patterns, Domain Driven Design, and Event Storming.
