Focus on the Energy Transition: Integrating Renewables into the Electricity Grid The integration of renewable energies into the electricity grid presents a significant challenge, particularly concerning grid expansion and stability. In March 2023, the EU Commission proposed a comprehensive reform of the electricity market aimed at promoting renewable integration, enhancing competition, increasing flexibility, and ensuring consumer protection. Key elements of this reform include long-term contracts such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Contracts for Difference (CfDs), providing investor security and facilitating the financing of renewable energy projects. The reform also encourages a more flexible electricity market through initiatives like flexible demand, aggregated load management, and virtual power plants. A new regulatory authority will oversee the market to ensure fair competition. At RIVEON, we support the integration of renewable energies and grid stability through grid balancing and battery storage solutions. Our technology enables the temporary storage of excess energy from renewable sources, which can be fed back into the grid when needed. Using advanced data analysis tools, we monitor the electricity grid in real-time to identify issues early and implement proactive measures. Let's leverage the opportunities offered by technological advancements and energy innovation. We invite you to take a closer look at our solutions and work together on a sustainable energy future! #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #GridBalancing #RIVEON #Sustainability ⚡ 🌱 🚀

🌊 Partner Dr Christian Finnern recently shared his insights with Börsen-Zeitung on the transformative potential of offshore wind energy for the German maritime industry. Here are three key takeaways from his discussion: - by 2045, Germany aims to expand offshore wind capacity to at least 70 GW, driving significant demand for specialised vessels and energy infrastructure at sea; - with the right political and regulatory support, German shipyards can position themselves as key players in a growing segment that will be crucial for energy infrastructure; and - offshore wind projects offer attractive opportunities at the intersection of energy, infrastructure, and transport, especially under the framework of "Green Finance" and "Sustainable Finance". These developments underscore the critical role of offshore wind in Germany's energy transition, offering economic growth and sustainability hand in hand. Please read this week's Börsen-Zeitung with an article I wrote together with Katrin Andrä discussing what is accelerating the energy transition - and what is (still) slowing it down. Certain incentives German regulators implemented over the last years to expand renewable energies are taking effect. However, investors need quick and sustainable decisions on future regulation. This is in jeopardy with the uncertainty of the set up of the new government after the upcoming elections and might in certain areas impede decisions. You can also find a more thorough review of the asset landscape in the energy sector from an investor's point of view in Noerr's study which we published here: https://lnkd.in/eJ6NmjNG #TeamNoerr #Energy #Infrastructure #Mergersandacquisitions

Battery Storage Systems (BESS) in Germany: Key Trends and the Road Ahead • Energy Transition: Germany is pushing for climate-neutral power through renewable energy and battery storage solutions (BESS) Market Trends: • BESS revenues saw ups and downs in 2024, with a dip early in the year due to mild weather, but a strong recovery in Q3, driven by more solar and wind power. Government Support: • The BMWK is promoting BESS through policies, funding research, and supporting new technologies to enhance grid flexibility. • Regulatory Developments: • The Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) is working on market systems for energy storage, with a technology-neutral capacity market expected by 2028. Why BESS Matters: • BESS is crucial for stabilizing the grid, integrating renewables, and meeting Germany’s climate and energy goals. • What’s Next? • Understanding BESS technology and building sustainable business models will be key for success in the evolving energy market. Let’s have views on • How do you think BESS can help speed up the energy transition? • What’s the biggest opportunity for businesses in the energy storage market? #EnergyTransition #BESS #RenewableEnergy #EnergyStorage #Germany #Sustainability #GridFlexibility #ClimateGoals #FutureEnergy

"Robert Habeck's renewable blind flight must be replaced by a system that prioritizes grid and storage expansion before renewable expansion and allows price signals to the lowest priced plant to work," said Kruse. Only in this way can it be "permanently avoided that excess scrap electricity clogs the networks, which is urgently needed at other times". "The electricity market of the future must ensure a cheap and safe power supply through the competition in the market," said Kruse. The EEG funding must be ended: "In international competition, a country like Germany cannot afford to permanently subsidize most of its energy system with tax billions and thereby distort the market and set false incentives." It is important to address existing challenges that affect many of the international investors in Chile and to push for the implementation of political promises, in particular the expansion of the grid. Further on we expect the reduction of lateral costs (e.g. minimo technico and PMGD), which have been multiplied over the last years and are 12-15 times higher than the budget based on the tender. At wpd, we have been working for over a year on proposals and initiatives aimed at contributing to the public discussion to generate support for correcting market distortions with the goal of achieving a clean, reliable energy industry at competitive prices. #wpd #Chile #renewables #onshorewind #greenhydrogen
