I'm thrilled to introduce ZoetroView, born from a simple frustration: the inability to quickly scan YouTube videos for information. As a designer turned maker, I wanted to bring the ease of scrolling through blog posts to video content. Think of ZoetroView as the crown gear of YouTube navigation - it cleverly transforms the horizontal timeline into a vertical scroll. Just like how a crown gear changes the axis of rotation in machinery, ZoetroView flips your interaction with video from side-to-side to up-and-down. Now you can navigate YouTube videos with your mouse wheel, making information discovery faster and more intuitive. I brought ZoetroView to life as a designer by collaborating with GPT-4! This AI partnership allowed me to rapidly prototype and develop the product, bridging the gap between design and implementation. It's been an exciting journey of human creativity meets AI assistance. Look I don't give my phone number to all our clients but there are a select few who I would WALK THROUGH 🔥 FOR. Just call me a fire fighter. And that is especially true when it comes to LAST MINUTE CONTENT REQUESTS. And we are living through that season right now. When I think back to 2019 when Hayley and I were working on the initial prototype for soona, I remember one of my most important value props was SPEED. I wanted to be FASTER than any other production company on earth. I wanted to be the Amazon of photos. In fact, we almost named soona ONE DAY STUDIOS - because we thought it was that important to move faster than the existing solutions. Let's fast forward. How did we deliver on that? Here's how we stack up 5 years later: - Avg. days from shoot request to assets delivered: 10 days - Avg. hours from selects chosen to retouched asset: 17 hours - Avg. increase in speed from existing production solutions: 355% Now, we have more work to do on this front. But these texts from my clients remind me that the old debate between quality and speed didn't serve anyone or anything but old business models. It IS possible to get Quality AND Speed. It IS possible to go to market faster than you are today. And it IS possible to go even faster thanks to AI. What do you think? Will we get this next week request done for our client? (Hint: The answer is OF COURSE. 😈 )
