Did you know...? Genuine leather is considered to be a great sustainable material As sustainability becomes a priority in fashion and interiors, it's important to understand why genuine leather is also an eco-friendly option compared to synthetic alternatives( also known in the industry as -pleather). Biodegradability and Durability Genuine leather, a natural product, is fully biodegradable and decomposes within 50 years under natural conditions, unlike pleather which can take centuries. Leather's durability also means products last longer, reducing the need for frequent replacements and lessening resource use. Sustainable Production Leather production utilizes byproducts from the food industry, reducing waste. Advances in tanning, including the adoption of vegetable-based methods, have significantly minimized the environmental impact, making the process safer and more eco-friendly. Supporting Circular Economy Leather’s potential for reuse and recycling fits perfectly into the circular economy model, extending the lifecycle of resources and minimizing waste. Choosing Sustainability By opting for genuine leather, consumers contribute to a sustainable future. It's not just about choosing a product but making a conscious decision that supports environmental stewardship. Are sustainable practices the future? We certainly believe so. At La Trama Srl, we embrace sustainable practices as a core value, advocating for its integration not only among the younger generations but also within established companies rooted in eras where profitability and capitalism often overshadowed broader social and environmental responsibilities. Fashion transcends mere clothing; it is the most powerful art form, blending movement, design, and architecture into every piece. From our inception, sustainability has been woven into our identity. But how? → Our showroom, adorned with decor made from recycled cardboard, embodies our commitment to eco-friendly practices without compromising on style. → Through innovative machinery, we minimize resource consumption and manage waste responsibly. For example, our hydrocarbon-based dry cleaning ensures garments are cleaned gently and sustainably, leaving a minimal environmental footprint. → Water used in our processes is sourced from a rainwater collection cistern, symbolizing our dedication to circular resource use. Sustainability isn't just a trend—it's a corporate social responsibility that should drive every decision we make. Join us in reimagining fashion as a force for positive change. Let's work for a future where style meets sustainability seamlessly. #FashionRevolution #SustainableFashion #LaTramaSrl #EthicalFashion #CircularEconomy #Innovation #Seamless

From the EFIC collection of #circulareconomy best practices in the #furniture sector: the Circular Business Model from the Italian company Paola Lenti. Discover the secrets behind Paola Lenti's success: integration of sustainability throughout operations is key. Their circular business model, highlighted by patented recyclable materials like Twiggy and Diade, showcases innovation at its finest. These materials stem from the success of Rope, a synthetic yarn known for its durability against water, UV rays, and bacteria, which revolutionized outdoor furniture two decades ago. Paola Lenti goes beyond innovation by embracing the Japanese concept of "Mottainai," or "do not waste," with their Mottainai collection. This initiative repurposes processing leftovers into new products, emphasizing sustainability and respect for the environment. By prioritizing eco-friendly practices, Paola Lenti not only reduce their environmental footprint but also set a high standard in the market. 👉 Paola Lenti https://lnkd.in/dyKB8jnr 👉 Paola Lenti's Circular Business Model https://lnkd.in/d9erkrhq 👉 Have a look at our entire collection! https://lnkd.in/euM-y-KH #furnitureindustry #sustainability #circulareconomy #innovation

Luxury and Sustainability - an oxymoron? On 11 March 2024, the French Chamber of Commerce in HK put on its annual Luxury Symposium. Our panel focussed on sustainability. Our panel had Ronna Chao who is in the textile/garments manufacturing business, Patrick Ho of Swire Properties, and Filippo Gori of Stella McCartney. I was particularly taken by Ronna and Patrick's comments. Ronna of Novetex talked about the surplus products in both luxury and non-luxury clothing that go to waste. She uses a recycling technology to take waste textiles to spin a new yarn to make new textiles. The problem with brands is that they don't want people to know the textile has been made from recycled materials. At the panel, we raised the issue that luxury brands can be leaders in promoting recycling rather than hide from it. I wonder if they think buyers won't like it if they knew the textile came from recycling. My view is "wow, how cool is that!" WHAT DO YOU THINK? Patrick of Swire Properties spelt out how his company is working with tenants on design to reduce waste, and also to promote green leasing. Swire shows that even in a soft market for commercial properties, you can do well if you are a leader and you get the premium tenants. My view is wealth is a privilege that comes with responsibility. Luxury is therefore a privilege too and definitly comes with responsibility. Luxury is not about "need" but about "wants". Luxury brands should lead in sustainability because their customers can afford it. I also had a go at my usual rant - I asked the organizers to stop using bottled water that came from overseas. The carbon footprint cannot be justified! Swire Properties Filippo Gori Patrick Ho French Chamber in Hong Kong Ronna C.
