Qinling Four Treasure Science Park is a must-visit! As a local guide, Pingjun Jia shares how this unique park is more than just a zoo. It's a dedicated conservation center focusing on the protection and research of rare animals, especially those native to the Qinling Mountains. Since its opening in May 2021, the park has not only provided jobs and boosted the local economy but also raised awareness about wildlife conservation. #Qinling #wildlife #conservation #Shaanxi https://lnkd.in/gBC2JbmV More stories about this: https://lnkd.in/gzNBzN-s

To teach a person to fish is wise… Yet what does society do when there’s millions of people fishing and only 1,000 fish in the water…?” - Eric Williams As the famous quote goes “𝑮𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒂 𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒂 𝒇𝒊𝒔𝒉, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒅𝒂𝒚; 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝒂 𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆.” However our fish may not be around for future lifetimes. Trophic cascades are what happen when you start pulling key pieces out of an ecosystem’s food chain, like removing the support beams of a skyscraper. Each part of the food web—from predators to prey—plays a critical role in maintaining balance. But when species are overexploited or lost, the structure weakens, and the entire system can collapse. In the case of Tikapa Moana (Hauraki Gulf) and around Aotearoa (New Zealand), we're seeing signs of ecosystem collapse, where the removal of top predators like crayfish or snapper leads to an expansion of sea urchin populations. These urchins consume kelp forests, essential habitats for marine life, and can turn vibrant ecosystems into barren underwater wastelands. In extreme cases, ecosystems end up dominated by jellyfish, as has been seen in overfished areas around the world. Without urgent action to restore balance and protect our marine environments, this collapse could become irreversible. It’s up to us to protect these critical ecosystems before they crumble completely. 🌎 Thanks to James Frankham, Stuff and the mahi over 18 months to interview more than 70 people – all with strong, well-informed, points of view. I highly recommend continuing with the Seasick series if you’re interested! #TrophicCascades #EcosystemCollapse #MarineConservation #HaurakiGulf #ProtectOurOceans #Sustainability #OceanRestoration #KelpHelpers https://lnkd.in/gYpWQjYM

In this episode of Dream Hub, Melissa is joined by dream researcher and educator Christian Gerike to uncover the powerful layers within your dreams. Why do certain animals, symbols, and metaphors appear so vividly, and what are they trying to tell you? Christian helps us understand how these elements are far from random; they’re key to unlocking insights about your emotions, memories, and even your spiritual journey. Christian also brings a unique perspective on how different cultures view dreams—from Indigenous wisdom to historical sleep practices—highlighting how people around the world connect with dreams as part of daily life and spiritual practice. We explore what we can learn from these diverse views, and how integrating these insights can enrich our own dream work. Together, we explore practical ways to interpret these dream elements, share how to work with dream groups to gain fresh perspectives, and look at why animals often appear as guides in our dreams. Whether you’re new to dream work or a seasoned dreamer, this episode will give you tools to go deeper with your dreams, connect with the hidden wisdom they offer, and find meaning in the messages you once overlooked.Connect with Christian via email: cgerike@sonic.netJoin his facebook groups: California Dreaming: https://lnkd.in/gxv5SKBu Marin Dreams: https://lnkd.in/gvhPrmdh Read more from Christian here: https://lnkd.in/g6fYykVc with Melissa: https://lnkd.in/gNn8tdt8

Article highlighting work by a UK Planning Ecologist to shine a light on deficiencies in the implementation of mitigation. It's so important (and for good reason, is legally binding) to thoroughly follow through on conditions of planning. We need to ensure that where possible (and where promised) we maintain, conserve and restore habitats and species while developing sites. Projects, conducted in the right places, following detailed feasibility studies, also offer opportunities for site enhancements... but a lot of residential cats in a field of skylarks clearly isn't the right location for such a development. Early ecological feasibility studies are paramount, if we are to avoid such scenarios.

The "Rollin Giraffe" video is a brilliant example of how humor and creativity can be used to teach valuable lessons. It's a reminder that learning should be fun, engaging, and entertaining. So, let's celebrate this ridiculous, round menagerie and the important lesson it teaches us: being different is what makes us special. https://lnkd.in/de8mX-F4
