Our independence was won when we, the society, came together collectively. So, this Independence Day, let us all collectively take a step forward to living healthier. So here are a few simple practices we can all follow- 1. Make sure to exercise daily; take a walk instead of your vehicle if the distance is close by. 2. When you feel sick, stay inside and maintain a safe distance if you must go out. 3. Make sure to have regular screenings and tests done as with age, health complications can arise. 4. Never self-medicate or try to diagnose yourself by believing the internet or your friends and family. So, wishing everyone a happy, hale, and safe Independence Day. Let us fight off diseases and keep ourselves healthy and fit! #independenceday #August15 #freedom #78years #cancersucks #cancer #cancerawareness #cancersecrets #doctor #cancerhelp #medicalinsights #oncologist #surgicaloncologist #oncology

Did you know that Bright Pink, an NGO focused on preventing breast and ovarian cancer in young women, founded Call Your Doctor Day in 2016? Bright Pink founded the holiday to encourage women to schedule their yearly well-women exams. If you’re a woman, this is a reminder to call your doctor to schedule your exam today! Even if you’re not, consider organizing an event and inviting a local doctor to speak about the importance of regular health check-ups.

April is #TesticularCancerAwarenessMonth! Around 2,400 men are diagnosed with testicular cancer in the UK every year and according to the London King's College LeDeR 2022 report, 15.7% of avoidable deaths in people with a learning disability were linked to cancers. This is an increase from 8% in 2021. The above figures prove why it is essential that people with a learning disability have the information they need to be able to check their bodies for any changes. So, Ansar Projects, part of Thera Group, teamed up with Orchid Cancer to create easy read resources to help people with a learning disability to regularly check their testicles. This is so they can get to know what is normal for them and detect any changes. 🔗 You can read more about checking yourself in our Know Your Testicles resources on our website, produced in collaboration with Orchid: https://loom.ly/mwqONDU The resources help people check parts of their body, such as their testicles, and record what they look like to spot any future changes. The resources also give people accessible information on what to expect if they notice a change, such as attending a doctors appointment or having an ultrasound. #EasyRead #AccessibleResources

Just read in my OT news about the Cancer Compass by #CancerSupportUK . What a great resource to support those living with and beyond cancer with their emotional wellbeing. 🧠 "People who have had cancer experience a range of emotions as part of their recovery, some of which can be quite challenging. But they’re not always obvious or even recognised. And when they are, it’s not always clear what help exists and whether it will be suitable. Our Cancer Compass is a tool designed to get you thinking about your wellbeing and emotional needs." https://lnkd.in/e3Wt8hR4

Black Americans are more likely to be diagnosed with #pancreaticcancer than any other racial/ethnic group in the United States. Many complex factors contribute to these disparities and our goal is to educate and empower people who face significant barriers to care. 💜 Here are four ways you can take action for your health today: 1. Understand your risk and talk to your doctor 👩🏾⚕️ 2. Recognize the symptoms and be your own best advocate 🔍 3. If you've been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, don't hesitate to get a second opinion on treatment options and next steps 🏥 4. Consider clinical trials and contact PanCAN Patient Services to help find options 💜 Get more information about these four steps at ➡️ http://pcan.at/sw25d0
