As 2024 draws to a close, the team have been looking back over the year and have picked out some highlights (in no particular order!): 1. We launched our website! 2. We achieved our ISO 9001 QMS accreditation. 3. We prepared the Flemington LAP for Fingal County Council. 4. We welcomed new staff - Simon Bradshaw, Alessia De Luca, Eoin Ryan, Liam Murphy (Intern) and Joye Atkinson (Intern). 5. We were delighted to see Tesco's new store in Fermoy commence on site with Main Contractors Precision Construction Limited. 6. We secured planning permission for a new Tesco store in Cavan Town. 7. We enjoyed some time out of the office - we visited Cork City; we took part in the annual Staff Relay Series in Phoenix Park; and enjoyed a night at the dogs. 8. We produced a Final Business Case for Fingal County Council's URDF funded Quay Street & Environs Project (presently under construction). 9. Our colleague Simon Bradshaw presented at the EU Just Transition Conference in Portlaoise. 10. We learned some vital first aid skills thanks to Heartsafety Solutions. .... and we are looking forward to some exciting projects for 2025!

It's Respect for Shop Workers week, and we've been at the world’s largest toy store, Hamleys of London, upskilling their team with some crucial conflict management tools. They’ve learnt how to recognise the early stages of conflict, allowing them to address issues before they escalate, and a variety of problem-solving, communication, and behavioural techniques to aid them in safely and calmly resolving difficult situations. 💬 Would this training be useful to your team? Contact us at team@fghtraining.co.uk to find out more. 🌟 We offer a 25% discount on all training for BID members in areas that FGH Security operates in and can deliver closed courses at a location of your choice, or at one of our classrooms in London, Manchester, Liverpool or Lancaster. #LondonBusiness #ConflictManagement #SharingPracticalKnowledge

So this morning I woke up @ 7:25am, as usual; first thing in my head was ‘how on earth did Ireland lose that game yesterday 🤷♂️ Next thing was both middle fingers on my right hand were locked closed 😞 Anyway; popped down and made a brew and eased those fingers open. Whilst the fingers relaxed I pondered my careers 18 months on Sainsbury’s Graduate training scheme; not for me and I definitely wasn’t the ‘Sainsbury’s Person’ they wanted me to be. A brief spell with TOTAL GB, I job I really enjoyed and met some fantastic people 12 Years teaching Mathematics in the Inner Cities rising to Assistant Head and I consider it to have been quite successful, made many friends and great kids, but I saw the education system changing, and for the worse. Now 18 years as a self employed Electrician; much varied, challenging and enjoyable experiences. My skills base has grown exponentially. Experienced everything good about the electrotechnical industry & come across quite a lot of what is bad about it. So now as my body starts to say to me “ I’m starting to wear out mate” #hips #joints #hearthealth #physicalpower I am starting to wonder where I go next! Only 51, I really enjoy the freedom of working for myself, I’m not sure I would be able to give this up entirely, I don’t tend to work 5 days a week every week either, I’ve worked to earn this.! So tomorrow I’ll go back to refurbing a small kitchen for a company after resetting my fingers again 😂 Electrically only 5 sockets and a light; but I’ve completely reboarded walls, jointed, filled, painted, fitted the units and cupboards. Now solid wood worktop, beautifully oiled ( popped in yesterday on the way to Rugby club to give it a second coat). Box in the pipe work, reverse the door, gloss the wood work, lay the floor and plumb in the appliances, hot tap and new sink. The customer said ‘it’s only a work kitchen’ and my reply was ‘ yes it is, but it’s a reflection of me so it needs to be right’ They really understood where I was coming from! The question will still be there when it’s completed; what & where do I go next? 15 years (and probably more) is a long time. Any advice suggestions from anyone will be gratefully recieved. Teaching in schools is not an option though. Happy Sunday & Mothers Day folks

Training drivers is not as old-fashioned as it sounds. Part-time chauffeuring is increasing globally, especially in Asia, where new wealth in China and Korea fueled Rolls-Royce’s year-over-year growth in 2023; and in the Middle East, where highly profitable bespoke commissions have achieved new record levels by both number and value, according to the company’s latest annual report.

Reflecting on an incredible experience as a panelist at Spencer Stuart's annual Admin Team Day of Learning, discussing 'Navigating the Tech Terrain.' Being part of such an important conversation about the integration of AI and new technologies in our roles was not just enlightening—it was profoundly meaningful. It’s clear to me that our ability to adapt and grow with these technologies not only enhances our efficiency but also elevates the value we bring to our organizations. Together, we are stepping confidently into a digital age that promises more than just progress—it promises a redefinition of our professional identities. Let's keep moving forward, learning, growing, and shaping the future of our roles together. #AI #TechnologyInnovation #ProfessionalGrowth"
Thrilled to have been a Panelist at Spencer Stuart's annual Admin Team Day of Learning! Our theme, "Navigating the Tech Terrain," delved into the vital role of AI in augmenting our current roles and in paving the way for new opportunities and efficiencies within the workplace. In an era where technology evolves at the speed of light, grasping its impact is crucial—not just for staying relevant, but for maintaining a competitive edge. We shared insights on the ever-shifting market dynamics, highlighted the significant value of our roles as administrative professionals within the firm, and devised strategies for fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptation. By motivating one another to dedicate time to learning and evolving together, we can stay ahead of the curve and preserve our competitive position in the market. A huge shoutout to my co-hosts for their brilliant insights and to every attendee for engaging in such a meaningful exchange of ideas. Let's continue to learn, grow, and lead in this digital age together! Valerie Cavallaro Christina Zimbalatti
