The Beams Road Upgrade in Brisbane's northside has reached a significant milestone with the completion of its first stage, effectively alleviating a major traffic bottleneck. The newly upgraded 1.3-kilometre section between Lacey Road and Balcara Avenue in Carseldine is now fully operational, benefiting approximately 20,000 commuters daily.
Key Enhancements:
▪️ Intersection Improvement: The previous roundabout at Dorville Road has been replaced with a signalised intersection, enhancing safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
▪️ Road Widening: Key sections, including the Dorville Road intersection, have been expanded from two to four lanes to improve traffic flow and accommodate active transport.
▪️ Active Transport Infrastructure: A new shared path along Beams Road has been constructed for pedestrians and cyclists, complemented by pedestrian-activated crossings.
▪️ Environmental Considerations: The project includes the planting of 235 native trees and grasses along the corridor, contributing to the local ecosystem.
The Bielby Holdings JF Hull Holdings Pty Ltd Joint Venture has been awarded the main construction contract, bringing together expertise to deliver this critical infrastructure upgrade.
The Beams Road Upgrade will integrate with the forthcoming level crossing removal and overpass project, jointly funded by the Brisbane City Council and the Federal Government, further enhancing connectivity and safety in the region.
